exactly balkolth, stacking a group doesn't make your AoE's any better than the rest of your attacks...

plus if the damage doesn't entice you the stuns should, they helps tremendously when soloing or if your fighting something tough...
and even if you're sucking it up and you take too long to start casting your AoE, you delay your Autoattack a little bit, doing this once per AoE will make you lose what, maybe 1/2 an autoattack per full AoE-CA-cycle? I'd say the added benefits from stunning a mob outweigh missing 1/2 an autoattack per AoE-CA-cycle...

I'm pretty sure this thread is from a raiding/dps perspective so stuns really dont matter. And missing 1/2 an autoattack per cast would be terrible.

i do tend to use them a bit but mainly for the additional AE aggression control but i never really see any huge DPS benefits to using them unless you time them PERFECTLY and even then it is far from huge, you have more of a chance to lose DPS if you hit one just a little too late or far too early.

if you want to squeeze out that tiny bit of juice then go for it, as a tank i don't sit there fiddle fucking my timing that closely because im fucking tanking. when i use them i chain all 3, 2 blues and 1 green so that i can't screw up my timing and it lets me focus on more important shit.

Ok so when you can tank everything in the game and survive easily and hold aggro easily, what else is there to do but max out dps.

The way the encounters are currently if you have decent healers you shouldn't have to worry about living especially once you get gear.

And in terms of aggro, dps is obviously the best way to hold is so....

I didn't mean 1/2 per cast, I meant 1/2 per AoE-CA-cylcle, as in a full cycle of casts, like going through them all. aka 1/2 Auto Attack per casting ALL AoE's once...

and I was thinking in a general sense, not restricted to only raiding :P

it also depends on your weapon speed and haste, some less than knowledgable people use faster delay weapons than the 3.0 mythical(even that delay is pretty low). dual wielding slows down weapon speed so easier to fit in the AEs, with board up then you will push back some auto attacks with it at max haste.
