I am very new to the game - still going through my trial to decide my main. Berserker is a class that intrigues me.

From reading both these, and the official forums, I have been able to see that Berserkers are both tanks and DPS classes. Obviously, it's going to make sense to keep a tanking set of gear, as well as DPS/solo/leveling gear.

When doing DPS, is it optimal to use 2 1H, or 1 2H? Is there a level/ability at which I should be looking for one over the other?

Also, do Beserkers use shield when they tank? Or is it recommended to just DPS the piss out of stuff and hope healers can keep you up?

Currently, I am level 8, so my knowledge of group situations, and tanking, is fairly limited.

2 1H weapons will almost always yield more dps...

You should know though. Zerkers are tanks first dps second. Yes with gear and stuff and optimal groups they can push out a ton of dps but dont plan on filling dps spots end game. People will expect you to be a tank.

As for shield vs 2 1H for tanking. It basically depends on how hard whatever you are fighting is. If your healers can handle you DWing then go for it. Or if you are having agro problems with a shield, then get your second weapon out. Its all balancing hate and survivability and right now dps = hate.
