Default Zerker dps viability.

Just came back to the game after almost a two year break.

Gonna be leveling with a buddy all the way, hes an Inquisitor.

I haven't decided between zerker or swashbuckler for my toon. Can't really make up my mind which would have more synergy with an Inquisitor partner for instances, farming, etc.

While leveling I wouldn't mind tanking on the zerk, but at 80 I kinda want to spec and aim for just dps as the zerker. Whereas with the swashy I'd go down the sta line to act as a tank, till cap and then probably switch over to full time dps.

Just wanna hear peoples opinions on which of the two classes would be a better leveling/farming partner with an Inquisitor. And also how good zerker dps is at cap, if it's decent enough to even care, especially in aoe situations (I have a fetish for aoe damage, and my old main was a 80 Warlock...so I don't want to go there).

Go with swashy or give zerker a go? Gotta admit the prospect of zerker dps seems fun, but I don't want to just be a gimmick that gets trounced by everyone including Monks/Dirges etc on the parse.

Thank for any replies.

There's a lot of factors to consider:

Whether or not you can get your myth easily.

What kind of gear you will have access to.

And what you expect from your toon.

At t8, you shouldn't be losing parses to brawlers, or bards. You're never going to be t1 dps, but on encounter mobs ( TMC, Miragul's, Munzok's ) you can definately be parseing top 5 with gear.

EDIT: That was mainly a t8 evaluation. I assume for duoing instances or farming a zerker would be more useful than a swash though..

We don't use any Brawlers on raids. However I dont think there is a Brawler on Nagafen who can parse.

I suspect the OP would be better served with tanking with a swash or brig while leveling up (did this quite successfully with a brig and it was a lot of fun) and then play the DPS class he wants.

In endgame there is not a lot of room for tank classes in a DPS role - in groups they don't want you 'cause either you don't parse well or you do but rip aggro all the time... and in raids, well... we know that tank spots are scarce even for those who want to tank or offtank...

Im curious on your guys's imput on these 2 combo's a buddy and I are contemplating.

Zerker + Dirge + Defiler

OR

Paladin + Assassin + Defiler

After playing the Pally/Ass combo some, I personally feel the Zerker + Dirge combo could be more deadly due to the dirges buffs but I could be wrong. What do you guys all think?

Are you seriously Asking why a dirge would give you more DPS than an assassin?

After playing both combos till their mid-50's, the Assassin/Pally combo killed much much quicker... now I havnt played them to 80 so I dont know how things turn out at those lvls but after looking at AA's and abilities, it doesnt seem like much would change however, I could be wrong hence the reason Im asking for some "help".

I wouldnt be asking if I wasnt looking for some others experiences with a Berserker/Dirge now would I? I know a Dirge brings a lot to the table in terms of buffs but do their buffs overshadow the shear dmg the Assassin brings? As for the mid 50's, they dont...

Any other people willing to give some imput on this? Tryin to get a picture of how theyll turn out.
