"dps" question

ok so I have a fairly noobish question

i've played eq2 a bit, not much and im gonna try and get my friend to play with me. Hes usually into the more tanky classes that can also do dps(dont skewer me, but the best comparison with my limited knowledge of eq2 is a fury warrior)

so i was wondering if they can play as a decent damage output class? or should i suggest something more like a brawler or even a brig/swash?(i've heard they have some mild tankability, not talking about heroic stuff or anything)

thanks in advance, dont hate me for my wow comments

edit: if he plays we'll likely play on pvp, but i dont know how much that would affect the decision(not factoring in track)

bruiser would be your best bet unless your friend has a hard on for swords and/or shields in which case go zerk or rogue.

Berserkers are tanks first, DPS second. We'll pretty much be outparsed by other classes in most situations.

not true, the DPS potential of a berserker atm is pretty fucking high... if things stay the way they are.

Onedustinone, Are you talking about DPS in the SF expansion, or as we are currently compared to the other classes in the current state of the game?

Cause right now, if you put an equally adept and geared Paly or SK against a zerker on an AoE fight, we are pretty close in terms of DPS. Last night the Zerk on a multi mob fight was at 12K while the Sk at 11.6K on the same encounter.

Now you put the same players on a single epic mob, and GL, the zerker falls behind to both by a shit load of DPS.

And the sad thing is that I pretty much have to be in my DPS gear, DW, Off Stance to be able to hang with them.

I haven't tested what Avatar gear does to a Zerker, since we have only cleared everything in TSO but Ykesha.
