haha, and by "way more" you mean some strength, and a little bit of dps and haste, all of which is on diminishing returns and for a raid-geared group probably ups their total damage by about 2% if I had to guess. An off tank group usually has 2 healers and a dirge. That leaves maybe 3 other classes that MIGHT be doing melee damage that can take full advantage of this 2%. woot.

Also, there won't be difference between a guard and a zerker in offensive stance getting one-shotted by a mob that hasn't been debuffed. We both wear plate gear with the same mitigation.

i wouldn't play down the buffs you bring so much lizerd, it makes a little bit more then 2% more dmg for some dps classes (myself included) i don't sit anywhere near the dps or haste cap as a brigand, and your berserk buff helps that alot, plus 100+ str is nothing to shy away from (again from a brigands point of view)

hell i know u can tank, that slacker grev didn't show up for valor last time and u wtf pwnd it, but i'd much rather have u in my group then a gaurdian :P

Well remember that strength does not help your base damage, only the top end. I sit right around 600 in my normal gear. When I add 30 strength, it ups the top end by 4 points on my auto attack. Yes 4. So 120 strength would up the top end by about 15. I guess if you have a very high crit chance then this would up the dps of your auto attack by 15 or 20. that's funny. I know strength helps your CA's too. And if you aren't into diminishing returns on dps/haste then our proc chance would help a little. No doubt it's more than a guard has to offer to a melee dps group. Maybe it's 5% - to the melee'ers that can use it.

Also, Valor himself is a pussy. Tanking adds on any avatar fight, Wuoshi's Bloodbeast, or even several KoS encounters is more of a challenge.

Edit: Also, staying alive will help your dps by quite a bit! So maybe sometimes having the guards hit point buff, avoidance/aggro transfer thingy or whatever else they might be able to do for you/your group could help your total damage by 5% as well.

I MT in a pinch sometimes but our Guard has all the best hate gear you can get so it's never even a question. Plus he doesn't suck at tanking, that's a big plus. Besides, being a MT (if you're good) is a lot of work. I'd rather pretend I can put out DPS and get my DKP up!

With the end game stuff like avatars and contested mayung, the harder job is off tanking all the adds. There's more of them to hold aggro on. Combined, they might even deal more damage. And most of the dps classes are on them, so again, holding aggro is tougher for this reason as well. Not saying the MT job is easy at all, cause it's not. Just saying that being an off tank for many of these encounters is probably a little tougher, and I'm sure most MT's would agree.
