Default What the hell am I missing?

Our guild just starting raiding RoK this week and I am very unhappy with my parses so far.

I have read everything on these boards and on official boards a couple times through so I have a good grip on the fundamentals, but I just don't seem to be putting out the kind of damage I should be. I am generally coming in about 5 or 6 on the zw parse and know I can do better.

My gear is fairly good, not great- some EoF Fabled, RoK Legendary, using Soulfire Sabre and Anaphylaxis, Str/Agi, Boot Dagger specced, all Adept III with Rob mastered, adorned, the whole bit.

I am spamming CA's after debuff progression but suspect my CA order may be iffy.

What should I be doing to fine tune?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Our hit rates suck on orange mobs. Its horrendous.

Some mages who couldn't beat you before probably are. The only scout you should be consistently losing to whoever, is assassin who are just retardedly good this expansion.

Dumb question - hows your hit/miss? You can set up a chat tab to show misses(red)/warnings(yellow) - it's pretty handy for seeing if you're too far away from the mob or in the wrong position for something to hit (some people have set up ACT to beep at them when the warnings come up). If you're seeing a lot of red, you might want to check your + pierce and weapons and fiddle with them a bit. + piece (with your weapons) will help - especially on those orange mobs that Pantz just mentioned. + 5 = 1 level
If you're seeing a lot of yellow, you're not in the right spot.

Play around with weapons a bit - don't be too attached to Soulfire. The lower level *may* not be hitting as well as it could be vs. mobs 75 or higher.

Someone mentioned Sidestab over Rob for Master II - that's a small change, but I've been meaning to respec and suck it up on the loam. Boot dagger is quick, but not having to fire off anything before sidestab & the shorter recast/nonstealth seem to make it a better choice. That won't make or break dps, though.

- you said you're all adept III, so your abilities you're using with double up are upgraded, so that's good.

- Gear probably see the gear thread, but just fyi: if you have previous tier Fabled that enhances a CA, those enhancements will not work for abilities upgraded in RoK.

Tinkering with CA's is a good idea and they can always be fine tuned - I'm not going to make any suggestions there because I'm all over the place depending on the mob. If I'm aiming for straight DPS vs. Utility, my parse will look quite different.

Anyhoo, don't be too hard on yourself. If things feel screwy now, they will click into place soon. Every new tier = a shakeup and a readjustment period. Remember also that our dps is all over the place depending on who we have for buffs. With a dirge/inquis/coercer I'm at the top of the parse - without the dirge I drop considerably. After a while you'll know why your parse is low if it's low, and what you did right if it's high.

If you just started T8, you probably went into Thuuga? Did you have cure potions/resist potions on you? Freedom of Action/Freedom of Mind come in handy - if you're feared or stunned, it's hard to dps! Those aren't long zones, either - not a ton of trash vs. named, so your ZW may be a bit different than it would, say, in DT or another longer zone where there's plenty of trash between named fights.

your group is by far the singlest biggest factor that will affect your parse. so who are you usually grouped with?

QFE

Tell us your usual group setup and what buffs do you have access to? ( Double attack, agitate, DKTM etc etc )

They make a huge difference.

yeah, also it would be helpful to actually post how much he parses for - if you are 5th or 6th parsing 3.5k you should live with that!

Default Re: What the hell am I missing?

Sorry for not having included more information in my original post but none of my T8 parses to date are very reliable due to wipes as we learn the encounters. We are also not a hardcore raid force so do not have ideal group set ups yet. Still looking for a Dirge and another Chanter, lol.

That being said, I usually sit in a group with a Bruiser, Assassin, Warden or Fury, Ranger or Swashy, a Necro or Illusionist. Clearly the Scout group needs some work!

When I have the Illy in the group I get haste but I/A will go to the Ranger. If there is no Ranger in the Scout group it's because he's been schlocked into the Mage group with our regular Illy there to get those buffs and I will either have Primitive or Agitate depending on the healer. When I don't have the Illy I use Mental Breach to make up for no regen, and that lowers my numbers a bit.

SO, not great buffs! Our raid wide can hit 40k now, but that's intermittent due to the learning curve. We're a solid group just seeking to shore up some key classes. My dps varies on encounters from about 1500 to 3000 depending on circumstances and I know that this will improve once we have these encounters down pat. I expect 3k from myself regardless, however unreasonable that seems given group makeup (grin).

My hit % is about 85% zonewide, which seems low. AA makes up about 30-35% of my damage on average, though I do spam CAs. I will play around with weapons and +pierce items to see if I can improve that hit% now as we learn encounters, but I still suspect that my CA order needs close scrutiny. Working on that.

The shameful truth is that my zw's are coming in at a little above 2k right now and I am very unsatisfied!

Thanks to all who have replied, and any tips, criticism, even flames are welcome. I'm not giving up until our Assassin cries, but for now I will settle for beating our MT who is an almighty Beast!
