I've googled it, read these forums and the official forums. I can't seem to find anything that explains what the difference is between haste and Attack speed.

I was under the impression that a haste item, say +10 haste was equivelent to having 10 +1 attack speed items equipped. I was also under the impression that haste items dont stack.

Can anyone give me some insight to this? I understand haste is important get more auto attacks in with a slower weapon that has a wider damage spread. But now I'm not sure if I'm supposed to go after haste or attack speed items.

Near as I can tell, the difference is that items with +attack speed stack with each other as well as your highest item haste whereas multiple items tagged as "haste" do not stack and only the highest valued item is counted.

Haste is a specific name for a benefit on an item which provides an increase to your attack speed.

Two items both marked with haste will not stack with each other - only one item's haste will take effect.

+ Attack Speed is exactly that - like a normal attribute it increases your attack speed.

You can have as many items with + Attack Speed as you want, just like having items with + Strength or any other attribute. Yes + Attack Speed will stack with Haste.

Two items with effects of the the same name (i.e. "Haste") will not stack. You can rename the effect to something else though, and it'll generally stack just fine..
