Sustaining DPS: long fights and AoE encounters
I've read a whole lot of various dps treads all over this board bu they all give little to no detail to your cast order on aoe encounters. My main problem there is that mage dps and berserker are reaping the mobs off each other and MT, the mobs run around, turn and so on. I kno that its the overaggro problem, but still is there some way you can counter this as a brigand? Yeah i used to double up barroom negotiations on >3 mobs encounters, is there anything else you can do on multiple targets encounter?
On longer duration fights is there any use of saving some longer recast-higher damage combat arts, replacing them with sidestab/barroom neg/jagged blow in the ca order, in order of better dps spread over time? Or maybe i should unload all 1-min ca's at start to have them back sooner?
Should i use dispatched-blood rake-enfeeblement-(sinister strike) combo or throw in assault and battery and so on? Well, should i in general try to spike as much damage as possible or save compromissing strike, A&B and stunnind blow for use inbetween 4 lower recast combat arts and debuffs? Will better spread of damage over time help my dps at all? I try to catch up our swashie on the parse and i see him constantly keeping around 2,5-3k dps for trash and most t1/t2 nameds, while i'm capable of some 6k+ spikes once or twice per combat, then my dps goes significally down until all my hard hitting CA's are back up.
BTW i'm str-agi-with w/o coule now, weilding nasthar shortsword, gonna respec to dual wield as soon as i loot carotidcutter+betrayal's song or something along that lines. Hope that finally drops for me :|

Re: Sustaining DPS: long fights and AoE encounters
why save any CA's? open with your debuffs, move on to the straight damage stuff, recast as they pop back up. skip the AE of course, unless the fight actually has multiple mobs or if your fully hasted delay is still slower than 2 seconds.
saving CA's is effectively putting a -Ability Reuse Time debuff on yourself. look at it like this and suddenly things like saving CA's for amazing reflexes make you a bitter little brigand.

Re: Sustaining DPS: long fights and AoE encounters
Well, while not saving anything i run into situation where i have nothing to cast for like 6-7 seconds twice per minute, debuffs like snare or ruckus always up (ruckus tied with HO starter), so this leads to a significant drop in my parse. My hasted delay on nathar shortsword is exactly 3.2, so i can affor spamming..should I?

Re: Sustaining DPS: long fights and AoE encounters
why is having nothing to cast a bad thing? that means you've been using all of your CA's as often as possible, which means you've maxed your DPS (assuming they were cast in a decent rhythm against your hasted delay).

Re: Sustaining DPS: long fights and AoE encounters
ok, another q: i havent tested out safehouse yet, is it returning you 100% hp on trigger? If yes, is it reliable enough (coupled with reflexes) to ensure i don't die to an aoe so i can stay and keep dpsing instead of jousting?

Re: Sustaining DPS: long fights and AoE encounters
First off dont wait for weapons drops to repect you can get anaphylaxis done easy enough and is a decent weapon even the 4.0 player made weapons do decent dmg and have good stats.
DW is the way to go you will find your dps go up if you dw and spam your ca's dbl up when appropriate after you have dropped the mobs mitigation.
also if your running the stupid poisons ie mental breach vitality breach hemotoxins your dps wont be very high.
Caustic poisons usually account for good chunk of your dps.

Re: Sustaining DPS: long fights and AoE encounters
I'm running caustic all the way, got enough AA for Honor among Thiefs which gives me enough mana combined with hearts and shards.
For ana+nathar, i have both, but have heard a lot of pros and cons (latter mostly) of combining two weapons with such different delays, or do you suggest giving timing up at all? I've not hit the 100% da cap with one handed yet (99% taking off ROTM), still havent got my trooper scale boots so the dillema 'thuuga/mc str imbued/ROTM' is decided by group setup (not 100% with mages, sometimes offtank with zerker+inq+(dirge)..rarely tho). For dps cloacks i have zek and marr and haven't decided yet which turns out better (for mage group with warlock marr seems to edge out zek..or is zek still bugged?). Haste item is the department I lack, thin
king of going back to eof treasured gloves.

Re: Sustaining DPS: long fights and AoE encounters
I'm still useing CoF for haste and as i understand it zek cloak is bugged still.
I used to use nathsar MH and ana OH put up some decent numbers (more than i did with nathsar 1handed and i was capped on dbl atk at the time.
I tried one and dw testing both with similar group make ups on our raids and DW out performed the wis line.
Ill admit i didnt do as stringent testing as some would but 1handed didnt parse as high for me as dw does. Ive changed some gear since then i might try it again but i doubt it.
I didnt go after Honor i use safehouse and the others I also run 2 phantom handles and seldom worry about my power i ver rareley ever use hearts or shards often finish raid with the first ones they gave me.
There are a lot of good brigs here that can prolly help you more than i can tho.

Re: Sustaining DPS: long fights and AoE encounters
using EoF sabres (sf + bi) still and can manage 3 - 3.5k in long fights. obviously less if there's control effects getting tossed out like candy at a halloween parade. (obviously others can do more than me. i'm just establishing my base-line)
anycase, why save a CA? only reason i'll not cast a CA is if i get stunned or feared and a DU combo gets out of sync, i may hold part of my chain till the reuse of the rest of it comes back up. or if i know an AE is about to hit, i won't use dispatch till after the ae has hit and dps is back on the mob. in fact dispatch is the only CA that i can see anyone waiting any length of time to use, and mainly so it's not used just before an AE where people are usually called out, or a stun/fear/KB/stifle/daze/etc type AE.
as the person before me stated, 2 phantom handles will help if you have power issues. another item for power is a wrist slot from CoA, i think bracers of grim reproach, they have a power draining proc on them. if you do all this and still have power problems, then there is mental breach poison.
for haste, i'm still using the deathtoll access reward, 23 haste on wrist slot. another thing, if your guild is beating T1 in RoK, i'm pretty sure you could easily clear MMIS, and there's 2 nice haste cloaks that drop there, 1 is a 25 haste +2 melee crit, other is 30 haste, 2 melee, spell and heal crit.

Re: Sustaining DPS: long fights and AoE encounters
Ok, to be more exact my auto-attack dps is sitting around 1200-1300 on trash fights and easy nameds (t1-t2), fury+illy buffed, and that is with nathar shortsword (99% da, around 150 dps, 120-130 haste), and for those buffs i unequip ROTM in favor of MC dps ring. Got no trooper scale boots for around 30 solo named and 10-15 heroic nameds kills in wastes (really unlucky at this :/ ). So, can someone parse their auto with similiar weapons and group setup, still curious how much dps will switching to dual wield net me, if any, b/c spending 10p for a respec should be well justified ^^
10x for the input about haste, we are currently struggling at overking/sathir, maybe it's the high time to remind the raid leader of clearing some t7, because still plenty of decent items out there.
