My DPS could be better

Ok I did not want to put this in any of the other threads talking about DPS because well i've been there and done that with them.

Here is my problem in a nut shell. I was a Swash for a long time and just became a brigand for about one month now. I am not going to sit here and tell you that I was a great swash but I was very good. My dps on my swash was 3k to 3.5k and had no problem being at the top of the parse even with assassins in raid and casters had no chance either.

I have read all of the forums and I am speced with the str/agi/int setup which is what is said to be the best from what I have read. Here is my problem as a brigand I am only parsing 2k to 2.5k and this to me does not sound right since people talk like a brigands dps is better than a swash hands down. Now I can tell you that a brigand has about twice as many back stab onlys than the swash so positioning is part of my problem and I know that, but I didn't think it would be 1k /cry.

Another thing I have noticed is that I miss my en garde buff. The swash has 3 temp dps buffs and brigands only have 2 but we do get dispatch and double up which are very good spells. That dispatch by the way is why I became a brigand to begin with. My guild is not very big and we do not raid much but we are starting to raid more and we had another swash in guild but he was new to the guild and the leaders asked me if I would switch since they knew me better, but enough about that.

So after I have bored you to death can someone tell me what I could do to see a difference in DPS or is it simply practice and location that I am missing here? Oh and just to add I do not have my epic yet but will soon how much difference will that make?

Reorder your spells, i did this and stopped using a few of the smaller ones till there were no more to use, my dps went up to 5k (no crit robe and a pretty stacked group of Illy, troub, fury, wizard, Brigand (me) and ranger). I specced 1 handed with mythical due to having really shitty 2ndary's and can never seem to win the GD dkp bids on 2ndarys.

Interesting. Which spells did you remove? I have been thinking of getting rid of Clock and Stunning Blow from my raid lineup since they provide no debuff value. I am trying to refine the holy hell out of my CA lineup to remove clutter and get my autoattack swings in more often.

As far as Swashie vs. Brig DPS, you are going to want to make the most of your CAs between swings as Swashies will generate more DPS via autoattack anyway. This does not mean that you should ignore autoattack, of course. You just need to figure out a solid casting order between swings. Maybe start out just using like 4-5 CAs (Dispatch, Feeb, Blood Rake, Remiss (and Swipe)) and ramp up from there. Training Wall is your friend.

personally, i use every CA i got, DW, and don't have a mythical, i range anywhere from 2k (shitty group on mobs with annoying on damage effects) to 6k (stacked group, short fights like ruinic guardians in kor'sha or trash in hate)

as for CA's i can see myself not using if i did that? walk the plank..... that's about it. everything else is too good. clock i've had hit for 4k on a nice crit, so that stays, stunning blow will crit upwards of 3k after a dispatched, etc. my advice is to find a nice rythym that works, then spam the crap out of it. also make sure DoT attacks are among the first (usually i cast mine after disp/enf/rake/DU) also don't DU major debuffs unless you have M1 DU.

I thought DU reapplied the CAs as the lesser of the 2 (i.e. Ad3 Dispatched + Ad3 DU = Ad3 Dispatch). If I have been reapplying Dispatch as Ad1 I have lowered the raid DPS ocassionally. I usually DU the stuns + B&A since I don't like to use Enfeeblement or Dispatched just for the sake of a DU combo. Sometimes though.... ><

ad3 du reapplies as 1 step down from the original skill. ad1 is 2 steps down. m1 reapplies at same level as original
so dispatched ad3 + DU ad3 = disp ad1 reapplied.
(ad3 dispatched + DU m1 = disp ad3 reapplied, or disp ad3 + DU ad1 = disp app4 reapplied, for clarification)

so any purely damage (not DoT) skills are fine to double up, but doubling up debuffs without m1 DU, you're just gimping your own debuffs.

Excellent, thank you for the clarification. Now I have a reason to switch my DU combo to Stunning Blow - Clock - Sidestab - (Sinister). Been broker-camping M1 DU for ages to no avail. I suppose I need to also mentor down and whore myself out to the appropriate tier to hope for DU m1 as well. =/ meh

I start at the one, then use both temp buffs and hit hoods as soon as the mob is positioned.

I then go along my bottom bar (the light blue line), then up to the green highlighted spells.

So the spells for me that are lower priority are Alt 6 - Alt 0.

I ensure i double up master strike if available.

do poet's palace daily. everything is green at 70, and masters lv 55 - 59 drop there.
