Since I was in a similar situation starting my Brig a couple months ago, figured i'd post in too. I started my Brig mid March on a different server than my other chars, so had no funds etc to speak of. In that two months i'm up over 100p and at lvl 70 Brig/71 Jeweler with 97 aa. Since this was started in point form, and others have continued it, why break a tradition...
1. That little post by Pantz at the top, is still relevant, read it lots mmkay. The "casting order" listed there, can still be useful in group situations, as can the aa suggestions. Read that post, and sift through a bunch of back pages here to read up on other stuff, there is a lot of basic relevant and non-raid specific info, just read up on it.
2. For your AA go agi/str first. Seeing as how you only get 50 pts per tree until lvl 70, this is a good bet as it'll give you high dps. Also the Brig specific tree has a lot of Ancient Teaching ca's etc in it that you don't gain access to until the 50's or so, and don't need to worry about it right away.
3. Somewhere in Pantz' post there's a link to see the list of ca's we get. Read that too, even the ca's you don't have yet. Look in your Brig aa tree, in the first column on the left (tenure line), 2nd from bottom is a ca called Dispatch. You want to finish up your Rogue tree and be starting to put points into Dispatch by the early 50's (we get that ca at 55 and it's friggin leet. ;) Our other friggin leet ca is Double Up at 58, look forward to that lvl, it'll have you pwning the snot out of mobs in 1/2 the time. :D
4. If you're soloing a lot, invest in good quality equipment (mastercrafted armor and jewelery, particularily the agi and str imbued rings that start in the 20's (palladium imbued band of agility or of strength etc). One increases agi/attack speed, the other increases str/dps, both are leetsauce for us. <3 those rings and upgrade them at least every other tier.
5. Whoever suggested harvesting everything you find and selling stuff to make money, hit it dead on. That's how I ended up with 10 plat by lvl 10. Tier 1 regular loams usually sell for lots on the broker hehe. I R rich now.
6. (this goes for every brand new user to the game and is good advice i've given lotsa folks who've thanked me for it later). Take a couple days out at the start of every tier (10,20,30 etc) and begin harvesting up the rare rocks, loams (used in making ad3 ca's) and rare ores (for mastercrafted armor/weapons). Literally take 2-3 days out of levelling to get your items together that you'll need. Having your next set of gear ready to equip at the 2nd lvl into that tier is really handy. Better quality ca's/equipment help you DPS like a fiend and kill the mobs damn fast.
7. quest quest quest, rack up your aa's. Even grey quests now give AA so pillage everything. When you start running low-ish on quests in a zone, ask in one of the lvl channels which next zone you should be hittingg for your lvl. I hit lvl 70 Brig with 97 aa and it's a pretty easy task to do. We get 100 aa to lvl 70 then it shoots up to 140, get as much as you can. Quests, discovery areas, killing nameds etc all give aa.
8. Our worldwide channel is guk.brigandworld. It spans through every server, letting all Brigs communicate. To join it right click in your main chat window under channel options at the top and enter the channel name into the spot on the right (no passwd needed) and hit join/create. Even though a lot of the channel are raiders, they'll still give good advice when asked and are pretty decent folk compared to *cough* a lot of the other worldwide class channels.
9. Use all THREE types of poison. You can't use like two that are red color at once, but you CAN use the 3 diff types at once like Caustic, Fettering and Enfeebling. These debuff the mob and let you kill faster. Try to get the mastercrafted versions if you can, but just watch and make sure you keep your poisons up and re-apply when they wear off.
10. That's about it, enjoy your Brig. :D
