Help me out you matured Brigands! - Page 3

Well as you know, neither haste or casting speed are static for about 99% of all brigands. Meaning whatever "timing" you learn will actually HURT your DPS when those two modifiers are altered enough.

Dont get me wrong, if you are HC enough to have the beeps running at all times to gain 1 or 2% DPS then all power to you. But claiming that occasional "training" with beeps helps you DPS better is something I would go as far as calling disinformative.

I've found 2 combat arts, wait for your auto attack to hit the mob (you can tell when this is by looking for a larger than your combat art hit above the mobs head) then 2 more combat arts is all the timing I need.

Also, Turn off all other combat spam messages over the mobs head except your damage.

lol yeah Johnathan's method works pretty well - except on the odd mob where things get goofy and the numbers appear a mile up in the sky.

I started fiddling with the parser for autoattack dings last night and it was going off a bit randomly - I think someone said plugin, but the only one I could find was the doubleattack one? I then added .*? YOU hit.* you miss, you critically, you double, etc. (just in case)

It went like this...

Soooo needs some tinkering, at any rate.

Training wall is awesome though - and that does give you some continuity to work with so you can see and get a feel for how far apart your swings are normally. I really really want to see it added as a house item so you don't have to haul your arse all the way out to KJ to use it. (with a fury main, I am *lazy* about travel)

Anyway, whatever works for you = /thumbsup!

First off, thank you guys for all the responses and all the help, I think I'm well on the way to become a half decent brig :D. Currently at lv 33 with 31 AA's and all mastercrafted armor, hoping to get two Feystell weapons today.(yes, still a Sarnak, damn Rats can't start in TD and no way in hell I'm doing all that farming again to reroll).

Anyhow, thanks again, this has been great help. I have pretty much been soloing or duoing with a good bud I found(who crafted my armor). Only been in 4 groups so far, and they all befriend me, so I guess I'm doing something right.(This place has a lot to do with it). Anyway, no more kissing ass. I think this thread answers a lot of questions for other newbies that may come around these forums asking for help.

you dont need to use beeps or watch numbers over the mobs head (i have that completely off anyway)

just take what you expect to be the fully hasted delay of your weapon, figure about 0.9 sec per CA (sailwind + inherent lag), and fit them in. its usually going to be 2 CA's for most raiding brigs. with the right group you should have a decent number of procs going too, so you can just sort of watch your combat spam window out of the corner of your eye and when you see like 10-12 lines of your attack text scroll by, you know an autoattack round went off. that's what i do anyway. ~5k dps should be your target, for a decently geared raid brigand.

but for soloing and levelling? fuck it. just spam CA's in an intelligent order. timing CA's is completely unnecessary there.

I'll try to remember to pull logs from my last CoD, ETR, Thuuga, etc parses. It would be cool to see some comparisons--especially with different group makeups, gear, etc.

There an easy way to just filter autoattack dmg from ACT? I am pretty newbish with the app.

Always looking for way to eek a bit more dmg out!

When you're looking at your damage in ACT (Main>All>Your Name), there'll be an option called "melee" and "non melee" - your autoattack damage will show up under melee, and CA's under Non-melee (even though most of your CA's say "melee" damage as the effect, etc.)

If you click "all outgoing" you'll get a pie chart. When you're looking at the pie chart for damage, it'll show up as pierce/slash %. Even if you use CA's that are "pierce" or "crush" etc. they will show up under the CA name vs. the type of damage they do.

When you just click your name, you should get a window with melee (out) Non-Melee (out), etc. Under that you'll see your average damage, minimum hit, max, how many hits vs. how many swings - you can further customize this under the "table setup" tab and "damage types view."
