Default possible brig nerf inc

just saw it on dev tracker. its on the pvp section, but will have an effect on pve as well.

Awhile back I looked into the reports of dispatch always applying the debuff even if the brigand missed. I tracked it back to the setup of the double up spell. Some special scripting was done so that this spell could work properly. However, at the same time the person who did the scripting forgot to return if the attack landed or not. Normally the melee attack effect handles this and returns false so that extra portions of the spell like dots on the assassin or swashbuckler debuffs don't land. So since it currently doesnt return a false the additional effects always apply. This will of course impact pvp because they don't have to worry about hitting but will always debuff you regardless.

The tricky part is that fixing this will likely have some sort of impact to pve as well. I don't want spells that work one way in one fight to be totally different in another so this is something we are discussing and how we can minimize the pve impact. The issue is noted though and it's something I am looking into.
i only can hope, the pve and pvp rulesets r really separated, so if (or when) they fix it, the patch will not applied on pve servers. if not... possible mass /cancel account inc. mine included. if they'd do it on same time with releasing the new expansion, the new content would make me stay, but otherwise...

Why would it affect PvE when the bug only happens in pvp?
TBH i never knew that it was buggy like that. It shouldnt apply debuffs if it misses. It doesnt apply debuffs in PvE when it misses, its only buggy in pvp. So how can it affect pve when its allready not working that way ?

Its because the bug happens PVE also. And if its not supposed to hit due to a miss, then it should be fixed.

yeah.
that sucks, especially because if our mit debuffs miss, then its 1 minute before they can be attempted once again.
bleh.

wasnt that intended anyway? i mean rogues are some huge debuffers and can do some dps with the right gear/group setup (Especially swashies). why would anyone play a rogue now if the dps is higher from other classes and debuffs are just as (or nearly as) good as other classes' debuffs. granted the current debuffs from brigands are quite huge, but to make us really desireable our debuffs always landed, and should imo.

i think this was even discussed a while back in the ww brig channel and one of the last points where aeralik can (and it seems like, will) nerf us.

and tbh if a ca misses and the debuff wont apply then, this will make a lot of the current fights tougher, as other debuffers will have a huge problem applying their debuffs.

just look at fights against brawler type mobs, lvl 86+. there's no fucking way our debuffs land in the first 30 to 60 seconds, and that is a huge time span where a mob will hit the tank pretty hard.

Im confused, our debuffs work even when parried in PvE? Ive yet to see that. Or is it just the rear debuffs?
As far as i know the problem lies on pvp server. When the ca is dodged or parried the debuff component still aplies.

all debuffs (Apart from the aa ones) apply always to a mob when we cast them. regardless if the dmg part of the CA gets parried, misses or ripostes

Only Brigands, because of how Double Up works and how they had to script CAs to get them to work correctly with it even if they miss. And then it's only for CAs that can be double'd up.

Swashbucklers do not get this benefit at all.
