I don't really see the point of CA/buff macros, at best the tend to eliminate one mouse click. Whatever macros you make though, don't end up as one of those cunts with group/raid text macros for all your mitigation debuffs. Nobody gives a fuck about anything but Dispatched anyways, and if you do this I will find you, and I will tear your wife in half.

That's about all you really need. People get pissy if they don't know when dispatched is coming up, especially if it's M1 w/ Mythical. The chat macro for HaT grabs healers attention so you don't get wtfpwned by an AoE right after you save the tank's ass.

Of course you could use the macro I saw around here one guy used, which spammed all his CAs with a single mouseclick. Saves or a really streamlined UI!

Those 2 are pretty much it for raid info-macros. I send a macro to /gs for Thieves Guild, but that is mainly for the benefit of the other brig if we are in the same group.

Always fun when you meet those Priests that have a macro attached to all their heals/buffs.

I have a few macros I use, some of which aren't melee oriented...

1. Offensive Gear - this one equips everything in every slot I normally use and casts offensive stance twice (in case I was in defense for some reason). I use this to switch back to normal gear when I have on TSing gear, resist gear, jboots, JW hammer, whatever. One macro gets me back to where I need =). This also works in combat after my hammer procs, I can hit it twice and have my weapons back in before I port out so I don't forget later.

2. HARVEST! - This macro has /target_nearest_NPC, then the rest is filled with doabilities of all the harvest/destroy/etc. Targets blue/red/yellow shinies, also papers, etc. Also targets nearest mob, but nothing else.

3. All resist gear macros

4. Harvest gear - This one equips jboots, kunark goggles, Solstice earring (and casts), Fishbone earring (and casts), whatever TS gear I have (smithing hammer, etc). Have to hit this one twice, since it tried to cast the Solstice earring before it registers that it is equipped, but it's fast.

I have a few more, but those are the major macros I use, other than the two listed above.

I have my HO starter macroed with Baffle, Roughen and Holdup. that way I never have to think about it, I got perma skill buff...and sometimes I veen get the good surprise to get bravo dance (always good on non perfect setup). Also got Boot Dagger + Rob and dispatched + message just to save a click...
