I don't think anyone here is blaming summoners for what happens. Really, we care about our abilities and our DPS, not so much yours or any other summoners. If summoners say their classes are broken, okay. Every class bitches about that at some point.

They could be considering nerfing us and giving our debuffs to panda bears and we'd still be pissed at it. We're pissed at the changes and at Aerlik, not at summoners. Summoners didn't push a button that caused brigands to be targeted. If they could do that, I'm sure they'd be a lot more useful on raids.

You know, I been playing this game since release and EQ1 before it. I have heard the arguements for years about class balance in the end game and for the life of me I just dont understand it. Why does anyone think that end game raiding should consist of 24 unique classes. Dont folks think in terms of the end game at character creation?

My first toon in EQ2 was a guardian. I wanted to be the raid MT for my guild. No brainer, make a guard.

My 2nd toon was a brigand. My time as MT for the guild was coming near an end and I wanted a class that would still be welcome in raid.

My 3rd toon was a bruiser. Already having 2 raid ready toons I really didnt need a third. I enjoy tanking and doing DPS so I decided to make a toon that could could do both.

My 4th and final toon (at least ones played to level 70+) was a necromancer. I realized that the sparce population at the lower levels would make grouping next to impossible. I needed a toon that could solo exceptionally well so as to get me to the end game asap.

Now dont get me wrong, there are a ton of folks who can play their classes with enough skill to break the boundaries of solo vs group vs raid. But those folks are the exception and not the norm. Most folks play well enough to fullfill the role that their class were meant to fill. This is how it should be IMHO.

Two problems with this line of thinking.

1. You must be aware of what each class excels at upon creation. New players do not have easy access to this type of information. Sure if you read through a bunch of threads before creating your first character, but you cannot realistically expect a player to do this.

2. Shifting class foci and abilities as the game progresses make it hard to know what the future for a class holds. We know that SOE hardly has a long term plan for the classes so we cannot expect players to have any insight.

Most guilds already have a token summoner so it's really not even gonna affect them, but it WILL open up a slot or two for extra ASSASSINS...go fucking figure.

The whole "steal from peter to pay paul" routine has got to go.

the whole point is they did 1 thing to make all classes more desired in raids
then they turn around and and do something so not every class will be desired in raids.
Being a brigand, the poster above was understandably fearing this would null brigands, but could null swashbucklers just as well.
