soloing + shield (IS STUPID)

I've always played this game 1 way, dps. Just recently, I took up a hint from a friend to respec as defensively as I could an go solo some heroics, it turned out surprisingly well (I didn't lost half my health when stun broke!). However, I mainly just stacked all my mit aa, didn't much pay attention to sta rogue line.
My question is, what are your experiences with soloing heroic nameds while weilding a shield, with and without the 16% shield effectiveness from sta line? Hoping for some elaboration on what to look for in shields if those are viable at all.

only use shield for training solo heroics dw kill them before stun wears off

I used a shield and stamina spec while tanking instances a couple expansions ago. It was fairly effective, but at this point in the game, I really don't see that as a good alternative to the "overwhelming firepower" strategy.

Besides, at the point when you're geared up to farm those heroics, you don't have any reason to.

If you want to make money while sitting on your ass in front of a computer, playing online poker is almost always more $/hr than farming plat. Protip: you can convert actual $ into platinum too if you were only after the plat itself for some reason. Then again, once you're that geared you don't really need plat either... and you're probably getting guildsplits anyway.

I farmed KC on my brig and it was cool the first few times. Brigands really are very capable heroic soloers (or grab a healer and duo rape a dungeon). It lost its "wow" factor very quickly though.

It's still the best spec for leveling up though. /shrug

or maybe... I'm a returning player who isnt' receiving plat splits yet and I want some plats to buy masters and gear for alts

Oh also here's a tip zyk, just go to the research assistant, pick the spell u want mastered and spend 30 days IRL being more productive, log back onto the game after 30 days and u will hasa new mastaaaa
