When is the honeymoon over?
I respec'd from STR/AGI to STR/WIS. 4/4/4/8, 4/8/8/8 respectively. I'm lvl 55 and I have noticed a definite spike in burst damage. I'm using a simplistic 1H Cobalt Log Sword (adorned).
As a DW brigand I was parsing 400-500 in my low 50's as a solo artist. After respecing 2 days ago as well as dinging 55, my sustained dps is still around 400-500 but I do get some burst parses that are 800dps +.
Obviously, I want to think I'm ruling with the WIS respc, but I wonder if the reality is that this has happened as I have dispatch now.
So my question is this: had I remained STR/AGI when I got dispatch would I be doing even better? Or, does WIS (72% double attack) really boost dps that much with mere master crafted weaps? I mean, with the double attack chance, I almost feel like I am dual wielding 1H's.
EDIT: I forgot to tie my subject to my post :-) Here it is... I have seen a dramatic increase in DPS from 50-55. Does this continue to climb exponentially, or does it level off here in the near future?

Re: When is the honeymoon over?
Your solobility though is better with Agility over Wisdom, imo.
Lunge Reversal is nice, but Walk the Plank gives you more back time - which in turn gives you more time to hit all your backstabs and proc Pirate Stab (again going that you are Agi).
Granted that would help more in longer fights, but it would help none the less.

Re: When is the honeymoon over?
you are better off with agi/wis vs agi str imo.
you get diminishing returns on melee crit after 8 percent, which is easily obtained by items.
get 8 percent off items and have the benifits of the str line, and you didnt have to spec in it.

Not.
With shitty weapons go DW. And there is no diminishing returns on crits.

OMG Lol....like everyone said here you'd do more dps with a DW configuration until you get a really nice 1H weapon in the +75 to 80 damage rating catagory.

VERY INCORRECT.
Crits do not have a diminishing return as far as chance to crit goes. A 10% chance is a 10% chance, and an 80% chance is an 80% chance.
What does happen though, is that the more of a crit chance you get, the less of an increase in DPS it is. So basically, going from 0% to 1% is a bigger increase in DPS than going from 99% to 100%. But this is only because of pure math and logic, not because of any specific design on the programmers part. The same applies to increasing any stat too, although that was multiplied due to the diminishing returns curve that was put in.

A crit is a crit. If you increase your crit % from 88 to 89% your dps will still go up the same amount as 0 to 1%. You either crit or do not.

Re: When is the honeymoon over?
Yeah. You get more damage per crit if your weapon's damage range is higher, because the crit then 'lifts' the damage more, but there is a diminishing return on that lift as you go up from a range of 4:5, through 1:3 (the usual range) to 1:9 or more.
So if you had 40-120 range, average hit 80, a minimum crit is +40, but if you had 20-140, still an average of 80, but a minimum crit is +60. The more the spread, the more the crit effect on average. (I believe crits are a random amount between 100% and 130% of max weapon damage)
Well, that's my understanding, there's a great post on the SoE brig forums on it.
So that's probably where you sightly misunderstood the diminishing return thing for crits.
