Default Question on Qeynos Cutlass and AoE avoidance

Hiya,

[reposted here from items/equip forum]

I'm a brigand about to finish Claymore and looking for advice on whether to go cutlass (dual wield) or rapier/kilij (1h).

I know both would be replace din due course, but I'm wondering whether the cutlass has longer value due to its AoE proc (6.9 secs 1.8x a minute) that could complement the (not so!) Amazing Reflexes skill. Especially with a dirge or other proc buff.

Any brigands using this for an AoE avoidance boost?

At the moment I'm STR-WIS spec with Vilucidae's Sword, but could go STR-AGI if dual-wield with the cutlass and say Wurmslayer were better.

Thanks for any comments

Ratius

I'm biased towards DWs just cuz i love the fast casting, but if you want DPS the 1h claymore is better.

They added a timer but it shows up in the regular buff bar not the short term buff bar.

Ok, cool.... so you can see if the proc is up.

I was wondering if any brigs used the cutlass to try to get closer to perma AoE immunity, or whether in EoF zones you just joust the tough AoEs, and use better dps dual wields?

Our raid guild/alliance is only relativelynew to EoF, with Freethinker's, CMF and a couple of half-decent stabs at ChelDrak

To be honest i don't joust unless i'm almost dead =(

If i know the AE is a pain... i try to proc AR and keep it up during the entire fight..

OK, so in EoF raid zones if you have good resist gear you don't need to joust?

I'd read a lot of complaints in the SoE forums by brigs that that wasn't possible, but if it is, and you do't need something like the Qeynos Cutlass to boost your AoE immunity (its base proc is maybe 12 secs a minute), that's good to hear

I guess also going STR-AGI does make it easier to get AR up when you need it, because you can burst your triggering CAs faster?

You need to joust most things until you are comfortable with the ae timers and watching AR.

KOS and Cheldrak I never joust.

EOF I joust usually especially on nameds who spawn adds right on top themselves that have a stun. just depends on the mob. id only use the cutlass if you dont have a better weapon.

At the beginning of EoF i played around some with a similiar idea.
In a nutshell it involded AR-AA, the Cutlass, HP-Gear and Lifeleech Procs to be able to just stand in the AE debuffing the mob.

Well the result of the experiment was, that i was doing less dps and dieing more often than when i'd just equip for dps and joust the AE if it was hitting that hard.

So, my answer is: Forget the cutlass, do better dps an joust.

That being said, you haven't to joust much because as long as the ae isn't one-shootuing you, the healers should be able to keep you alive anyway.
