I wasn't really able to find a good discusion reading though these foums, so figured i'd just ask.

do most of you all use a bow and arrow's for your ranged or the throwing weapons (to use the CA?). and if so which adornment do u thow on them? (+dps or health drain are the most popular i think)

i've been useing the bag of cogs outa Unrest for awhile, free ammo is nice and the dmg isn't horrible, but we seem to have quite a few bows dropping over the last few raids, and wondering if i should pick one up.

I use the summon ammo throwing weapon from dt. I want to get a good bow to do some testing. Maybe macro in and out my throwing wep for the ca. The problem is bows never seem to drop for us. Have had the throwing wep drop in dt 4 or 5 times and not 1 bow. I am waiting for a few classes that a good bow will benifit more, rangers posibly bards but after that i am going to pick one up for testing.

You should some separate gear for ranged fighting than your normal gear for up close combat.

You are so missing some things...

You want things that Proc " On a successful attack"

Weapons that proc off ranged weapons:
Any weapon/shield that is just a status affect proc. IE. Stun, Root, Stifle.
Iceforged Sai
628 Rapier
Qeynos Cutlass
Qeynos Kilij
Waning Moon Cutter
Utrkls shield of striking (or whatever the fuck it's called.. it's a shield)
Buckler of the Howler (another shield)

Exactly what my ranged slot is composed of.

Jonathon, I don't know that he discoutned the 1H proc gear as much as he was discounting the ranged slot choices. You definitely gave good tips everyone should know. The thing is, you can take the ranger tips and throw all the variables in to maximize it, but really it's not adding much to the bottom line when you really need to be out so little. They are ranging sooo much more. Typically, on a rare occaision that I might be out for a couple bow shots, I'll throw in the Kalij on macro to switch, but if it is one shot and back on it, like after a knockback, it's pretty nil and I don't bother. All in preference I guess and to each their own. Some people probably range more then others so...the truth is, it probably depends on playstyle. I do a lot of AE calling and/or MAing, so worrying about hoping for one added proc off my ranged isn't a priority, because I barely ever joust anyway. That's just my style though. I would bet that a PVPer would choose differently.

Unless you're pure range I wouldn't bother with all of those other weapons, it will drop your dps as a brigand staying out anyway. But on the out calls with the rigid scale you can do anywhere between 6-12k on a debuffed mob and of course throw a shot off on the incoming + subterfuge <3.

im using either of the Kos Satchels atm.

Tarinax one for the +5 slash and the free ammo (with dps mod)

Combine War Satchel because of the stats/hp (with dps mod)

I think i would only use a bow for soloing/kiting

Probably get a bow soon though just for testing purposes
