So I read the the post about making sure pets don't attack when a pet class is not called, was just wondering what else is known to break the encounter. Someone in guild asked about using Soul Ward before the encounter. I was pretty sure this wouldn't work, but can't find anything definitive saying one way or the other. I dunno, maybe we'll try it on first floor next week since the first floor one doesn't really do much anyway.

Well i did the 2nd floor champ fight on sat...and it wsa pretty damn easy.
im str / wis specced so no sail wind ...just own the healer mob ..then cast thugs then hideaway so the bruiser starts pounding on them, while its messing with the thugs drop dispatch and devit on it then malicous +restrain and double up + ruse ..drop rest of cas ..then snare and finish it with ranged.

oh and to make sure it is cake get a Troubador to cap you right before you accept the challenge ..then the 15-30cas you spam to kill the healer fast are back up 7.5-15secs for smacking the bruiser into the turf.

Sry for reviving this old post, I kept forgetting to reply...

A lot of people here recommend to use thugs on these duels, I however would recommend not to use them!

The reason for that, if for what ever reason one of ur Thugs dies, you have lost the challange!

It has happened way back to me when I had my 1st go 3rd floor encounter! I released my pets early, focused on the harder mob, thugs went for the arrow down mob (think he has a DS) and killed one of the Thugs, and Trial was lost !!!

Sorry if this is old news, as similar issue was raised long time ago with other pets (like the shamen dog)

So If you have to use your Thugs, be carefull that you don't loose em

Swash and Brig (with good gear) can stand toe to toe without even having to move and just go apeshit clicking CAs. As long as you're group buffed fairly intelligently, they barely hit you and they are dead before you get any serious damage.
