Re: Monk or Bruiser
what defines more raid dps? personal dps or what they do in dps + what their buffs bring to the raid in dps. if you just mean personal DPS, bruiser, however with the + casting speed buff monks get + haste that is raidwide, they bring more over all damage, all though their personal DPS is typically lower by a noticable but not extremely significant margin

Re: Monk or Bruiser
the only dps that matters is zone dps
if its a short fight like 30 seconds a bruiser or most other toons with full on spam will be close to 4k
but thats just for the people that say
"OH ya i pars 4k i am a scaled down version of god"
so what you want to look at is a zone parse with like 60 mins of fighting
its far more rounded out dps
this is a FTH Zone parse with all people above 1k 22 minuets of fighting
Allies: (22:18) 34424382 | 25728.24 [Ziggie-Devastation Fist-37919]
Sythzel|2541.14 necro
Angmar|2498.22 wiz
Ziggie|2190.87 Bruiser
Ceoni|2209.92 illu
Enale|1890.85 wiz
Guzz|1689.01 guard
Askane|1519.00 Bruiser
Meldor|1489.91 Coercer
Loky|1491.80 illus
Noag|1710.07 brig
Xenox|1337.44 guard
Laguri|1171.81 mystic
Nyra|1247.94 illus
Duubard|1070.05 dirge
Linyen|1024.83 corcer
now the parse from the second name
only a 1 minuet 24 second fight everyones dps is higher
Allies: (01:24) 3047267 | 36276.99 [Angmar-Fusion-28785]
Sythzel|3735.83 necro
Ziggie|3443.37 Bruiser
Angmar|3036.00 wiz
Guzz|2680.30 guard
Askane|2604.92 bruiser
Ceoni|2421.75 illus
Enale|2175.54 wiz
Noag|2461.44 brig
Duubard|1985.77 Dirge !!
Laguri|1702.24 mystic !!
Loky|1506.08 illus
Nyra|1509.25 illus
Meldor|1404.52 coercer
Jakk|1378.03 dirge
Noakia|1128.94 inquis
Pixi|1104.92 templ
Lbas|1094.06 troub
i could say OH YA i do 3.5k dps
or the dirge could say ya i do 2k
but thats all bs real dps is worked out from a zone parse
and allways parse your own fights
i know im an average parsing bruiser im working on it :P

Re: Monk or Bruiser
I stopped raiding right before the devastation fist and dual wield changes and just play casually now. How did you get a devastation fist hit that high?

Re: Monk or Bruiser
I wouldn't rely on D Fist in my opinion. The 10 Second Stifle makes it trivial to use on any mob that you can't one shot with D Fist.
Copy/Paste response of mine from another thread about Monks and Bruisers.
With having both classes now I feel I can comment on this even though the thread is old as dirt. But, any thread asking which is better will usually keep going. So, hopefully if anyone still unsure about this famous question, will read below. This is coming from experience with playing both Classes for some time now. So, if you don't have 2 or haven't played both...why are you commenting?
Who is the better tank Hate wise?
I find the monk to be better in my opinion. 149 Haste self buff (not including proc from the hat that drops off PHH) with the hate buff on, it makes it easier.
Who is the better tank Mitigation wise? I feel Bruiser has this. No other comment.
More useful in raids?
I would say monk for the fact they have the group FD and can use their heal on anyone, even though Bruiser's heal is on a 1min 30sec timer it still doesn't help if they can't use it one anyone else. To the monks that do raid, how many have landed heals on the MT for 5k? Its very helpful in those "Oh shit wtf are you afk healers?" situations.
Who is better dps?
This is group and raid wise, Bruiser...hands Down. Monks, don't even try to argue this fact. Bruisers offensive and middle stances have procs just as Brigands and swash(?) So, if you burst dps, just blowing your load all at once...you can still auto attack and do alot of dmg based on the stances. Monks have a lot of haste, thats all.
AA Lines?
If you are basing your decisions fully on this just shut the fuck up now. Because you're a fucking retard.
Who is Better in Player vs Player?
Bruiser. Thats all I can say on that part. I love my pvp bruiser and barely play my 70 brigand.
Who is the Better Solo'er?
Here is the question that most will probably say Monk for because of Outward Calm and Tsunami. Its a tough call imo, Bruisers pump out the dps and monks just...meh, perhaps Tsunami is to make up for the lack of dps. Using dps vs Tsunami as the example because Bruisers could kill it faster and Monks need that extra duration to get it down...Either way, both classes solo really well.
Overall Who Holds the Better Spot? Thats a tough call, really depends on what you want imo. Do you want to be high on the parse? Do you want to be more helpful (Face it..Brawlers are just about as helpful as a dead wizard or warlock on a raid...But I Still love em) Do you want to tank? (Don't tell anyone you made a monk just to tank) Do you want to be able to hold your own solo?

Re: Monk or Bruiser
Let's just focus on "DPS", cause "Raid DPS" depends on your force and your particular group.
Bruiser > Monk DPSwise.
*There is always the gear factor, so I am basing my claim on 2 "identically" equipped brawlers.
If you roll with Dirge, Inquisitor and Coercer/Illu in group, then yes, you can prolly PWN 3.5k. Again, all circumstantial.
In my guilds raidforce, I often beat the "real" dps classes (and they get all pissy ), hehe.
EDIT: Devestation Fist is AWESOME! Best change in awhile IMO. You still auto attack, so - burn your KO Combo, all your skills (recast the fastest 3 on the timer) and then lay the whammy on it with D-Fist! (and pray you don't take aggro ).

Re: Monk or Bruiser
I usually use D-Fist and then use the 10 sec stifle as a nice little refresher for KO combo. Pretty much all my CA's are back up and ready to go once the Paradox fades.
Still.. the stifle sucks.

Bruisers, can Drag any target as long as you can hit it, like mezzed mobs without breaking mez, statues, flame pilers, and other things
and , oops the tank just died, drag defensive and mit buff, thanks bruiser you just saved the raid.
on any Mayong fight inc Tuch, drag Mayong take the debuff,
Its true we can't heal others but drag makes time for healers to heal the mt or rez him.
Oh and with the right aa points we can stay in trough AOE and heal and cure our self
But after trying a monk lastnight for the first time since the lu changes, With the casting speed and raid haste, i am now hiring one lol
