On Dragonfist's recommendation, I just respec'ed (again) and am now STR 44862 INT 4486 and AGI 448. When I fight a named, I pop Chi and KOCombo in Offensive stance and just burn it down. Only works on low greens so far, but wow, it is fun!

I suspect your stuns and CAs in general simply land better in offensive mode because your attack skills are higher. On the flip side getting the mob's offensive skills debuffed early is probably a good idea.

I'm nowhere near T8 yet on my bruiser, but am planning to run with STR and WIS for the endline skills to have the best chance on nameds. I'm in T6 at the moment and there STR+INT all the way down work pretty nicely, but I hear that in T8 INT end line is weak because under 30% you can so easily be one-shotted by heroics or nameds.

Maybe monks have it easier in T8 with Eagle Shriek INT special as they can pop Tsunami when they hit 30%, but even then it would take some nerve to rely on it I think
