Default FD Failure Rate

Hi all,

Just wondering what is with the failure rate of FD and if any of you have been experiencing this? I went for a bit of a duo run through Seb with my Bruiser partner and of the 10 times he went to FD, 7 of them failed...

So much for a so called 97% success rate!

Is anyone else having this issue, or how would it be possible to minimise this? He also holds the M1 for the most recent (T7?) version of FD.

Thanks for any help/advice!

Just a string of badluck, I've fd'd countless times without a fail. Then out of nowhere I'll fail like 5 or 6 times out of every 10 fd's. But yeah, the rate seems to be more in line with something in the 80ish percentile imo, no research done to prove that though.

Seems to almost always work for me, but I just think that with 97% it shouldn't fail as much as it does.

I think the reasoning for this, is that we draw extra attention to the times that FD fails. Conversly, we pay little or no attention to many of the times that FD succeeds. Look at when your just standing around and FD for fun, and your training through easy green mobs and FD just because you can, knowing that if it failed it wouldn't be a big deal.
I suspect the success chance is more accurate than we may think, and that it is our perception of the success rate that is not accurate.

I think it has a line in the code:
if hp<25% and mob=heroic then set FDfail=1

haha yea fd failure sucks ass. it has been tested in the range of 83-87% success range before, typically it gets continually higher the more mobs you best it on, but never budges passed about 10% lower than listed. i tested it on 5000 tries once in SoS and got an 85% success rate

Were those 5000 tries against the same number/type of mob every time? Could always be that the FD check is rolled against each mob...not sure of the mechanic though.

FD is a flat chance now. It is no longer a level-based mechanic like it was pre-LU13. You either succeed at FDing or you don't. It is no longer a dumb mechanic where you can FD against a Level 55 mob, but fail against the Level 56 mob around the corner like in the past.

Yeah that was funny. you coudl actually type /feign and it woudl read something like this:

Your Feign Death Value is 32.
Your targets FD value is 30.
Your targets thinks you are dead.

Something like that.

FD can be extremely bursty on when it fails. Tonight was training through Karnors and it failed 4 out of 10 times. I only got one shiny and it was the rare battle ax. It is all connected. Too many rare events happen too often. The problem is not FD but the RNG that SoE uses.
