I agree with Orochan on that. A good Assassin with an equivalent gear on an average fight (not 20 seconds) will outparse you.
My guild's assassin is a monster, for example, last time we did PR with 3 groups, he parsed 12k on Imzok...

Agree knockout up on a quick trash mob (~20 secs) i have hit 11k+ before.

In those cases if our assassin doesnt have his long reuse arts up I can beat him...... barely

I Raid on my bruiser and on my assassin (truth be told my bruiser gets by on gear thats going to rot) ... and let me tell you... if you out parsing an assassin on ANY worthwhile fight...

a) you can use Dev fist on adds (i love when i can do this :D)
b) fight stuns/stifles/fears constantly where closed mind FTW
c) his gear seriously sucks comparatively (seriously where is my choker!!) your KO proc basically exists in gear form (cursed coif) longer recast but much more damage .. love 28k dmg from one item i take on and off
d) hes stuck in wrong buff group (no roa/haste/ia)
e) super quick fight where RNG can turn things in your favor (all hits for you... lots of miss for assy, master rage fight with lots of procs).. then on same token assassin can get 2 flurries in a row in same type fights which would negate that

So happy my guild is letting me raid on bruiser though...power to the good bruisers :D
