Default altruism, is it really so hard to understand?

Just a small rant.

I can not count the number of times I have put this buff on someone and they actually get mad at me for preventing their deaths lol.

Why did you FD me!!!

Of course my answer is that I didnt, I just prevented your death, wait for a heal and then stand up.

I even have a macro that I use when I put this on someone, explaining that it only prevents your death and it seems peeps are just to dense to get it.

It almost makes me want to respec. Anyone else have the same experiance?

I love altruism but you have to have a guard that doesn't suck.
Death saves all trigger regardless if you have 1 or 4 on the mt at the same time. So if the mt dies at all even if he has a healer death prevent on him he will still fake death. Some main tanks that suck will fake death and take way to fucking long to hit "x" and stand up again. Some drop and stand up so quickly you can't even notice altruism went off. Altruism will always save your tank from that unlucky hit if you have a tank that does not have a slugs reactionary gap. These tanks would rathe rnot have altruism and rather just die and get rezzed.

I only use it in raids on people who know how to use it. Some people are too retarded to realize you just saved them a death and can't handle hitting stand, so why bother.

Yeah seem silly though to die, completely lose all aggro and buffs vs FD, getting a heal, standing up and getting aggro practically right back with all your buffs.

I would freaking pwn if we could altruism ourselves lol.

Trumak is right some people are just to retarded to handle it.

I agree with Trumak there, if your MT complains about being FD instead of dead; then he does not deserve this buff.
I guess it's a gameplay style, i'm not a big fan of Altruism but hell i know it's almost mandatory in some situations when a raid mob can DA for crazy ammounts.
In groups i use it on the aggro whore.
Really useful spell.
If someone complains about it, let him die, he obviously doesn't understand you prevented a raid wipe.
If some dumbass complains again about that feel free to send him to this topic, and let the experts of our community communicate with him lol.

Some players want to make others play time difficult, more time consuming and full of misery just so thay can have it their way. Alturism prevents these type of players from achieving their goal.

i used to do pick-ups with my bruiser and did the same as above with altruism, macro to the receiver to let him know whats going on etc. those that understood were thankful for it.

was in a pickup pre t-8 in mmis and placed it on the tank. after a few wipes he messages me and asks if i am making him fd...i replied about altruism and tried to explain how it saved his ass and all he had to do was stand up (also in my macro msg). he in turn cussed me out in raid chat, booted me from the raid then cussed me out some more in level chat....

i raid with a defiler now and prior to my present guild i used to get alot of aggro on pull so i always requested altruism if someone specced for it, that is if the tank didnt.

so best advice i can offer is make sure the receiver knows what u are giving them b4 u place it.

off the point is if u 2 box or just duo run around its awesome for your boxed toon or buddy u are running around with to get to the bottom of hot zones

The only problem with altruism atm is the fact that death prevenion abilities all seem to go off at the same time. For example, using it on a shadowknight, whom happens to have Bloodletter up, is rather pointless, because their personal save vs death will trigger at the same time, PLUS they will get the FD.

In many cases in raiding, it is better to use Altruism on a Main Tank healer who is familiar with how it works. Or you can simply NOT cast it until someone calls dibs, like a cool warlock before a nice AoE fight... use it as a bargaining tool in order to get favors later! ha ha.
