I'm working on the epic with my noob bruiser atm and I have a few questions for you guys (great community btw, I <3 these boards):

Does the Legends of Fyst recipe ever drop when the group does not contain a bruiser on that step? I am stuck at the Chardok point until I get some help but I would like to kill that named to finish the shackle quests, and was wondering if I should wait or not.

If the epic is crafted before the step that requires it, will it update the quest or do I have to wait until that point?

I know they're odd questions but I'm having a hell of a time getting help to do the epic, and having either of those work out might make me feel like I'm getting something accomplished /sigh.

you can have it crafted for you at any point - its not an actual update for the quest, but rather just an item you need to have to trigger the mob in Clefts.

That being said - I think the recipe will drop if a bruiser is in the group regardless of if they are on that step, but I am not certain. I had already finished tynnonium shackle when the epics came out and just made a quick pitstop to destroy that room =)

I actually coerced some guildies into helping me last night in Chardok, so I didn't get to test either of these. But I think you're right about the Claws. We went to Seb afterwards to finish up my shackle quest and get the recipe, and I almost missed my book since it round robined to the conj, wish it popped up as NBG or something. Ah well, all I need is Chelsith now anyways...thanks for the help
