Default Raid role help

Hey everyone,

Still in RoK land learning my role in raids. For the most part, what role is best suited for Bruiser in SoH and VP? I prefer DPS, but I'm doing remarkably well in full tank spec in SoH (no problem with the sisters and pretty much off-tanking). Should I expect this in VP as well?

My Paladin MT can't hold hate off me in SoH when not his amends target and finally put me in the MT group as his amends target. He prefers a coercer for amends, and we didn't have one that night. Even with the coercer, I still manage to pull hate (not in defense stance, using Shiftiness, and staying behind the mob for -threat procs). Should I just keep Jewel of Anamosity off? Didn't seem to help much, and he is still using the Signet of Betrayal.

That bit of background is just to see if anyone can help me figure out what I should be doing in raids. I've been told that I won't be OT but told to be in a DPS role, and it's kind of confusing me. Can Bruisers OT stuff in VP or can we get ripped in half through one failed evasion roll?

Thanks,
Sudden

Obano said he was MT all the way through VP. So I would say without a dought we can OT it. The only question is will your guild let a brawler be the OT?

Brawlers usually don't get much respect when it comes to raid tanking. I do OT for our guild but only when our SK isn't on.

In our current form Bruisers must find a role in both DPS and tanking. If you have good gear and good healers VP and SoH tanking is actually easier than tanking hard instances such as Guk and Palace of Ferzule. The jewel is really nice for DPS and off tanking light trash. Bruiser is very good at handling adds and killing trash mobs. Good bruiser can kill three of Thet-et-em adds faster than most classes can kill just one. Bruisers also really shine on fights like Byzola with class adds and off tanking the x2 add.

Agree, if you already pull aggro off him in SoH, see if you cant convince them to let you have a go at being MT there also ?
With full MT buffs, a Dirge and a Coecer in group you will hold aggro better than any pally imo..
And if things go bad, we have that little thing called Mythical to pop and you should be home safe..

I would go for it if I was you..
As for using Jewel.. Not sure I would as MT, but as dps/OT I would fro sure if it would ever drop for me

Cool. Thanks, guys! We'll see. They don't even seem too keen on me even OT'ing, but it's really good to hear that [with a good MT group setup] we can MT in raids. Of course, I'm happy hitting top parse, too, so... ;)

you shouldn't be hitting top of the dps parse, unless the real dpsers in your raid just suck.

But yeah, I see us as offtanks, which equals DPSing while not tanking, but being able to tank when required.

And we're fine for MTing stuff if needed, just normally doesn't happen.
