Icon14 Gi of Swirling Lava vs T2 5 Set Bonus

Need your opinion.

Recently got the T3 Lava Lotus head piece but as soon as I did that I lost my 5 piece riposte bonus. For my chest piece I am using the Gi of Swirling Lava when I am tanking, but I am starting to wonder on hard enounters should I switch back to my T2 Jin Drake chest piece to get the 5 piece riposte bonus plus the riposte from the chest piece itself? I am losing dps and mitigation if I switch back but I may get more stone skins through additional ripostes.

I am usually tanking WoE and that is why I am asking what would be better for that situation. Thx.

See here is the problem alot of people run into. You have your T2 void shard gear, and it's working great, but then you start getting T3 set gear. At some point you are going to loose a set bonus while you upgrade, and who knows when you'll end up being able to complete the set.

My advice for all T2 geared brawlers out there is to hold those patterns until you have enough to get your new set bonus... THEN you can turn them in. T3 is better, but turning in that T3 gloves isn't worth loosing your T2 set bonus. Wait until you get a few more.

Now to the OP, I'd suggest going with the Riposte Chest. If your dps is suffering so much that you are loosing aggro, then you can think about swapping back in the Lava Gi. Try them both out see what works best for you. I'd guess the riposte though.

I actually transmuted the Gi and heres why. Now granted I am a raiding bruiser I have Defiblirating Shozoku, Trakanon BP, and the Palace chest piece. However, I did extensive testing with the Gi and my findings are that its great if you have less than 50% crit static. After you get 50 or more the line starts to blur. Reason is with a low proc rate that it has it really is only an impact item when u have a dirge and a templar to bump your proc rate up. Now some will probly disagree with me here, these are just my findings from doing quite a few tests several months ago.

Having said that I would agree with the Crab.

In the case of pulling trash and things along those lines, I am sure I will stick with the Lava Gi just because I can hold aggro a little bit easier and cures is a bigger issue there and not actual melee damage. Now on names the line blurs because I will be using Chi and Knockout throughout the fight which is going to boost my dps high enough to where the difference between the two is very small.

I guess my concern was the loss of some resists and mitigation as I have been one shotted by names in there before... even though I have to analyze the parse to see what the cause of it was. Water elemental guy seems to hit me extremely hard, which is fine as long as it just doesn't one shot me.

Ive actually had the Gi proc 3 times over itself.. i think its great and if you see the icon when it procs you ccan get your big hits in, and will always crit(dps on raids). Cause i can get my solo crit to 69 or so. with bard goes up to 70 some, i still think the Gi is great for dpsing. ive never had a problem with the Gi proccing. Totally Depends on what you are doing to be honest.
