Re: Fan Faire News - Bruisers
The answers coming out of fan faire is mega fail for us Bruisers. The bruiser is a fighter which means we will be stuck with taunt crit while scouts and mages will be getting all kinds of dps boosts. Which means our intended role is to tank NOT dps. Remember that this is SoE's vision not my vision. SoE totally fails at making us viable tanks. First in terms of agro we can't hold agro because Drag and D&C is "overpowered" according to the devs. We can't take hits because mobs strike-through even our uncontested avoidance. And then everytime we get hit we get hit like we are wearing paper. What kind of tank is that? And if SoE can't get tanking right make us into scouts already and let us be dps.
And Crabbok WTF with those questions. Nunchucks and two handers come on. Why not let us use shields or something that would actually be usefull for our class. Maybe you couldn't tell us the good stuff because of NDA but where is our double attack compaired to the plate tanks? Where is our AoE auto-attacks compared to the plate tanks? Where is our survivablity line?
Also according to eq2wire they are extending KoS and EoF aa trees with 50 new combined AAs. The only highlight of our entire EoF tree which is drag is completely useless. With 90% of the EoF tree being crap it NEEDS to be redone if they are giving us more AA in EoF. Compaired to the warriors and crusaders our KoS is mostly shit too. WTB a clue for SoE.

Re: Fan Faire News - Bruisers
Well,
First of, thank you very much for your time and the job done at the FF Crabbok and the informations given us.
Some ideas sound good but i'm astonished by the ignorance of these people about our class... There are some major flaws that would alarm any attentive dev after all the time we whine about this.
They also seem to have a clue on how to fix chanty and bards since they are mentioned but no specific idea of the orientation they want to give to bruisers.
As for stuff under NDA i have reasons to think why they are NDA, and not so positive.
As always i read a lot of "projects", "plans" that might not even get to our live servers before 1012.
And what about the new expansion pack ? Is it going to be like the RoK-TSO transition? Complaints in RoK saw a clue within TSO AAs but hey, every new zone is swarming with multi mob encounters... Is Odus going to answer to our actual needs while offering other flaws within the new extension ?
As someone said (on another thread i believe) will our kick ass abilities become obsolete? (tsunami->strikethrough,D&C or Drag->immune)
What i see is a lot of promises and i'm not impressed.
P.S Crabbok : when you talk to them, did you had the feeling they had no clue about what a "bruiser" is and its needs?
("oh yeah i -heard- about this complaint form the bruiser community" rahther than "i am -aware- of this issue.")
I just want to get the ovrall feeling you had, were they thrilled when talking about bruisers? indifferent, amused, seriously annoyed or....?

Here is a situation where you need to look closer at the overall changes. Our taunt crit will be raised, but Our melee crit will still be high as well... exact numbers aren't getting posted yet, so we can't draw any conclusions other than scouts should have at least slightly better melee crit modifier than us. And our dps SHOULD actually increase due to the bard/chanter raidwide buffs. Basicly that turns every group into the dps group. And depending on how they improve our avoid buff, we may easily be able to stay in a dps mode, while using avoid buff on the MT... Either way, I don't view anything as a nerf to our dps.
And Crabbok WTF with those questions. Nunchucks and two handers come on. Why not let us use shields or something that would actually be usefull for our class.
First off, Nunchucks fucking rule! (Slight joke there, we were drinking alot of alchohol ya know). And though you may not be interested in 2 handers, alot of brawlers do often complain that 2 hander dps can't compete with duel wielding... and that was an itemization concern I addressed to Fireflyte. If you are worried about dps, wouldn't like like to see a powerful 2hander that destroys duel wielders on the parse?
Maybe you couldn't tell us the good stuff because of NDA but where is our double attack compaired to the plate tanks? Where is our AoE auto-attacks compared to the plate tanks? Where is our survivablity line?
Last I checked, our DoubleAttack was significantly higher than plate tanks. Personally I'm sitting at about 90% solo, and well over cap when in raid. AE attack is a concern, and I think if they do revamp the WIS line to improve the proc damage, that will go a long way towards improving the line itself as a viable option, as well as giving us alot more AoE damage.
Also according to eq2wire they are extending KoS and EoF aa trees with 50 new combined AAs. The only highlight of our entire EoF tree which is drag is completely useless. Drag, Divide and Conquer were addressed. We SHOULD see more mobs that will be affected by these abilities next expansion.

My comments in red.
Oh and I did forget to mention the new AAs. Basicly they will not add new buttons to your hotbar, but rather they will be passive effects that will "trigger" when you meet criteria.
Example : If the brawler deflects 2 attacks consecutively, then AbilityX will trigger.
Sounds like it's got potential to me.
Overall I think they has a rough idea of brawlers needs as a whole. I did actually find one member of the team who played a bruiser as her main, but she's not a designer, so it's not the same as when Moorgard was playin a bruiser. I think we gotta keep on giving feedback and make our voices heard.
Oh and I did ask Aeralik multiple times to make Bruisers the new SK in the next expansion... even tried some blackmail!

Re: Fan Faire News - Bruisers
Hey,
Thanks for getting all the info you did.
I have one question: is all the brawler/summoner/druid revamp stuff talked about at the fan faire said to come live in the next expansion, gu53, or no specfic time frame was stated?

Re: Fan Faire News - Bruisers
Thanks for the info Crab, even though I really doubt they will get it right. If they have to answer questions with "we will look into it", rather than "we are addressing that area" ... then I don't think they are really taking this class seriously imo.
Also when D&C is upgraded to Conquer, it sure makes it difficult to pick up single targets considering every other taunt except for Rescue does not work the way it should. I use conquer all the time, because otherwise we have no aoe aggro of any type... but if they think that is overpower, then more power to them. Hopefully the monks will atleast get something out of the expansion.

It was generally assumed that this was expansion talk, however I don't believe this was rock solid. They could push part of those changes out sooner... but I wouldn't bet on it.
Also, almost every question was answered with a "We will look into that" type answer... well because those questions were issues they weren't previously working on. "We will look into it" doesn't necessarily translate to "Go Fuck Yourself". I'm optimistic about alot of it.

This is the truth. This is also why I mainly PVP on my bruiser, and PVE when I need to level or get new toys / AA. I still enjoy that, but I admit i'll miss a lot of content with him. I couldn't imagine using my bruiser for mainly PVE however, since I'd feel kinda useless and this makes PVE less enjoyable for me.
Sony won't fix the bruiser for PVE for a while I doubt. They don't really care about brawlers. Maybe they think a lot of people who play bruiser PVP / farm. Or they feel the class is useless already, so who cares about fixing it for the time being and focus on making the people happy who play OP'd classes like SK, troub, brig, etc. since they make up the numbers.

Re: Fan Faire News - Bruisers
This is great feedback btw. Thanks for the info and effort crab, I think some of these things are a step in the right direction. It still seems like we're being somewhat ignored, but it has always felt that way with the brawler class. This includes monk.
