The order of normal checks is Parry, then deflection, then defense, so while defense gets used the least it is not at all useless. I think that both Gungo and Blanka are saying basicly the same thing. So any fighting they do in the process just doesn't make sense to me.

But if were going to talk about Value... I'd toss in the variable of availability. Defense is HIGHLY available, both from group buffs and from gear. Parry is slightly less available, and deflection is the rarest, so factor that in, and I think you'd come up with valuing deflection above all else, even though Parry checks first. After all, what is the point in measuring the worth of a skill if not to help you when choosing gear? I would value deflection over parry, and parry over defense, under normal circumstances, considering that if you are tanking the bard is going to probably give you all the parry you need.

Here's an idea - you have a good chance to educate people with less knowledge about the game than yourselves. And NPC mitigation?

and uncontested avoidance is only modified by mob level and is not a contested roll vs mob skill?

and avoidance checks? (although you can say this was semantics as well)

Its funny he can talk all the shit he wants but time and time again I show he's wrong. The best part is his guilds a feeder mid level suckhole and when the people leave there for good guilds they have no problems talking about how much of a retard he is.
