Fan Faire News - Bruisers
Ok folks, I'm back from Vegas, and without beating around the bush, i'm going to jump straight into the Fan Faire information:
Drag and Divide and Conquer - I brought this up and so did others. The end response is that some mobs are intended to be immune, but hopefully, next expansion they will try to make sure that these type abilities will work on more mobs, at LEAST all the trash. Names might still be immune.
Nunchucks - This was a personal request from me, because I want nunchucks. they said no. Well, not right now, as the new animations woudl consume alot of time... which makes sense, but I tried to argue it coudl be worth it because Nunchucks fucking rule. Maybe someday...
AA line procs - I asked them to look at revamping the Stamina and WIS line procs to reflect more current damage. IE the 150 or so damage from the STA line is crap, because it was made when raids were parsing 5-10% of what they parse nowadays. They said they'd look into those procs.
Overall brawler Desirability - Right now, the only change specific to brawlers is that they are working to make sure that our avoid buff is CLEARLY the best for using on the main tank. I don't have any specifics on how they plan to accomplish this, but overall this sounds like a good idea and will help brawlers get a raid spot.
2 Handed Weapons - Good 2handers have been nearly impossible for them to make due to the necessety of epic weapons. The Devs have stated that they will NOT scale epics up to 90, and our current epics may still be usefull in other ways.... but that allows them to actually make better weapons. I specificly asked to see more 2 handers that could out parse duel wielders. Hopefully we see it.
Thats most of the specific that I can talk about at this time. Overall, they are trying to make it to where raids and groups can have a wider variety of classes and still be highly effective. I do not believe that raids will want both a bruiser AND a monk, but I do believe that they will at least want one brawler, and that is a step in the right direction.
On non-bruiser issues, they are making many groupwide buffs, raidwide. Specificly bard and chanter buffs. Additionally, buffs that work on only one person in thier group (like IA, TC, Battlecry, Coercive Healing, etc...) will now be able to be cast one 1 person in EACH group of the raid... That will allow raids to run with less chanters/bards and possibly make room for other less desireable classes like brawlers and summoners.
Druids heals are getting a nice boost, allowing un-used healing to carry over to the next tick... and if the HoT expires, remaining healing will spill over onto someone else in the group who needs it. A nice change for druid heals.
Oh, Crit is going to be a big one. All crits will just be known as "crit chance" and all crit bonusses will just be "crit bonus". Archetypes are going to get a boost to their primary crit type, IE healers will get higher innate heal crit bonus, and scouts will get higher melee crit bonus. This will be ok with me so long as it's not a nerf to current crit bonusses.... IE I don't think a priest should loose melee crit bonus in order to gain heal crit bonus... I'd rather them simply buff the primary area.
Unfortunatley, all this crit talk coincides with the next round of fighter changes. this is a dangerous area, because it closely resembles stuff weve seen before, but hopes to be much less damaging.
How will fighter changes affect us?
Taunts - taunts will get some kind of a boost. I've suggested they be raised to be around 10K hate or more to actually matter. Taunts will also be able to crit... (Did I mention as fighters we get stuck with taunt crit bonus? Yuck!)
Defensive Stance - No specifics here, other than the promise that D-Stance will be a more viable option for tanking. You will still be able to tank easy stuff in Offensive stance, but they want you to feel like you can go into D stance without feeling like you are gimp. Sounds to me like their heart is in the right place.
They are also aware that brawlers want more AoE aggro. I'm hoping that a major boost to the WIS line's proc damage might help us somewhat in that department. lets face it, 600 damage in KoS timeframe is equivalent to a 2K proc nowadays.
Well thats all I have for now. If you have any questions post em, I might have forgotten something. Also keep in mind I did have to sign an NDA, so some things I can't talk about yet.

Since when did we start running uncontested avoid through the avoid checks jackass? Are you making up new rules now? Uncontested avoid has ALWAYS been the total added up.

An effect mainly on the monk mythical but also via AA's for guardians that allow someone a % chance to hit through a failed parry, block, deflection check. It is mostly considered a tank accuracy type buff since most mobs can only block or parry in the frontal arc. It doesnt allow you to reroll a basic avoidance defense check which is mainly when you miss while dpsing on raids from behind. (barring of course brawler npcs)
This is also the reason you want to dps an NPC from behind.
Edit: ya after your edit i realize what you meant. Crabbok, Did you ask the developers about brawlers being immune to strikethrough OR their avoid tsunami buffs being strikethrough immune.

I asked about both Wu's and about Strikethrough.
The answer is this:

Sorry, wish I could say more.

Re: Fan Faire News - Bruisers
I spent a decent amount of time trying to switch from mystic to brawler as a main. And then I pretty much gave up on it seeing as I got into TWO raids on my bruiser...one night for my mythical update, one night as OT on Switchmaster because our MT and OT were both gone. Until I read this I'd pretty much given up on making my brawler my first 90, and thus my new main. Figured I'd go with my dirge, fury, or swash. But this...may give me hope. *crosses fingers*
