So, I tanked Trakanon for a Guild raid the other day, and I was wondering a little..
I have no Avatar gear, but Guild do clear Palace, Zarrakon, Toombs and Generel in Ykesha (Just so you have an indication on what gear lvl I am in)..
While tanking (In middle stance, should prolly have used offensive), I did 9.3k dps, but I found myself striggling for aggro anyways, sure our dps'ers do alot more than that, but they have deaggro and stuff, whilst I have hate modify..
When our Guardian tanks it, I am not sure he do 9.3k but still the damn dragon is glued to him, and noone have to worry about their aggro meter..

What am I doing wrong ? Could I do anything different ? Was my dps not high enough ?

Is it because they just *****ete more hate than we do, or what is it, I was completely lost, mostly because I never experience this in normal guild groups..

What was your group? How many hate transfers did you have? Did your dirge actually have his hate buff on you? If you were struggling to keep aggro I might assume that you didn't have full hate.

Also 9.3 on Trak? I haven't done that mob in awhile but if i recall correctly that is ridiculousy high dps for that particular mob. Are you sure that's accurate? Sounds too high to be possible on a mob you have to autoattack-only 75% of the time on. Or has he been changed since the last time I've done him?

I had no parse running myself, but I am pretty sure the numers are correct..

I think I usually have a 86-89 % hit rate on that drake, but I will have to look again next time we kill it.. There I will also have my own numbers to talk from..


My group was:
Me, Dirge, Coercer, Assa, Templar, Defiler..
Defiler used 3 set T3 for the deadly bane warding..

And yes to your other question, I am sure I had all hate on me, is also why I find it hard to understand.. Sure if there had been 4 mobs I could understand it, but this was a solo mob..

So, what do you think ?

I must have been drinking when posting my last 2 posts..
In guld a guy showed me the parse, and it was close to 3k that 9k..
Not sure how I got that number to my head.. .. .. max fail.. .. ..

So was it my suck ass dps I can blame it on ?
I had 63 % damage from Autoattacks, and my hit rate was 72 %, so I dont think I could have done it different..
Any input ?

You weren't wasting your time using taunts were you?

Actually taunts are good on Trakanon. For that mob in particular, you have to watch for the green detrimental.

Baiscly every time you hit Trakanon, he has a chance to put a green detrimental on you that jacks up your combat arts, makes them have a longer recast, they only deal 1 damage etc... so they key is to wait until you don't have the green on you, THEN hit a CA. Anything you can do to boost your autoattack is going to help you on Trakanon. Max DPS, Haste, Crit, Doubleattack, and get the dirge's Flurry.

Ahh.. Thanks Crab..
Will see if I get the chance another time, and will try to follow just that..

And for the record, I was maxed in dps, I had Flurry and my haste was somewhere around 140 for the fight, so I think its pretty decent..

My current guild can kill everything up to, and including, Mynzak in Palace. However, they refuse to or aren't interested in giving Trakanon a try.

After reading this thread I'm just curious, how many bruisers here have tanked him? I haven't.

i've tanked him on a bruiser and a zerker....the zerker was a little easier, but the bruiser has much better gear. the encounter is a lot of fun, but its easy for one person to fuck up and wipe the entire raid.
