Default DPS tips for a newbie raid bruiser

    Hi,

I'm looking for some help to up my parse. I've recently switched mains to a bruiser in order to raid (main was a ranger).

I'm occasionally the MT, often OT, and sometimes the 3rd /4th tank. It's when im the 3rd /4th fighter that I want advice on, although upping my dps generally is good, when I'm tanking as long as I'm holding aggro (which I can np) then I'm not too fussed about the parse.

I want to contribute to the raid when my role is not to tank, but I also don't want a completely separate AA setup in case I have to step in to tank. At the moment, in defensive stance standing with the MT, I'm getting beat on the parse by inquisitors and even the MT (Guardian generally).

I know the basics, like autoattack timing and CA use (best ratio CAs taking priority, etc), but I'm wondering if I'm missing something or whether it's just a gear thing.

My profiles here and I also have DW steward weapons

Like I said, I don't want a dps only spec for AAs, it's too inconvenient to keep running to a mirror to change if I need to tank, as I may not know till mid fight! I've never had a problem parsing well for my gear level on my ranger so I'm confused why those principles I use on him don't make me parse higher than I am. For the record I'm struggling to get over 200k dps on EM x4 names.

    Thanks for your time.

One of the main reason's you're not parsing what you "feel" you should be is, because your gear isn't adorn correctly, you're running 700+ MA, with MA adorn's on gear, So swap those to Crit bonus, also your proc Red-rune's -- not sure what you have access to but u can get Greater magnitude threw a little factioning for your charm, and i can't remember what old red-slot's can go on belts, but that's one of your main issue's atm.

also reforge your gear to cap your main stats, there's plenty of info on here, of what stats are more important then other's... nothing you wearing has been reforged... not trying to be a ass, but it just looks like pure lack of motivation to fix your gear is the issue.

Thanks for input. I'm taking is as constructive criticism not you being an ass!

I've only just started getting red adorns and I'm only a recruit so get what others don't want.

My MA has just shot up with upgrades recently, but it's my pretige conversion stat so it's semi useful. I think they changed in to CB conversion in GU66 also.

The adorn thing generally is part of my problem. Are any of the more tank ones (+mit, etc) actually worth having over cb. On my ranger it's obvious, cb for everything. Tanking not so obvious.

And I guess it's the same with reforging. So most items have the same stats (strikethrough, MA, block, mit increase) with the occasional atk or dps. What do you reforge? I've reforged AB mod to AE auto, and kept my atk and dps around 200.

But what can I sacrifice to reforge? And to what? I can't reforge to cb/pot, my MA, dps and atk is at soft cap.

It's not lack of motivation. It is ignorance though on how to balance a good tank that can also do decent dps.

But you're definitely right about the red adorns. The ones I have came with the item and were ok plus I didn't have any spirits. Got 4 now so I'll get some cb ones.
