Default ACT Error on Startup - Firewall

    Greetings...

I was really hoping search would turn something up but it didn't so here I am.

I have a Windows 10 operating system, version 1703, 64-bit. This is the latest, updated version of ACT.

I have been away from the game but updated ACT and have tried running it both as admin and not but I still get the following error on startup:
An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions.

Can anyone tell me what the error means and what I need to do to fix it?

    Thanks in advance

Random internet searches suggest it is a Windows Firewall error message. So if you're using the Windows builtin firewall, I guess you should allow ACT access in the firewall settings.

Are you playing FFXIV or something that requires network packet sniffing etc? I don't know what ACT would normally do to give that error.

Thank you for the response. I'm using ACT for EQII. I don't play FFXIV. I did change the permissions in the Windows firewall, but with no luck. I should add that the title of the error, in the top bar says "Could not start the server" and I don't know if that is referring to your server or if there's something local it's looking for. I did install a fresh copy and still got the same error too.

Let me know if you need more information and thanks for the help!

That error title belongs to this setting:
2017-06-18_035835-Advanced Combat Tracker - Log Idle - Unknown Zone - Log Time_ 3_53_39 AM (Est..png

It's definitely not enabled by default, but it is attempting to listen to port 80 and the Windows Firewall is blocking it.

Wow, that's got it! I should have found that myself but it's been a few years since I was last in EQII and have forgotten a few things. I guess that must have gotten set at some point and I forgot about it. Thank you so much for the response and the fix!
