ACT & EQ2 oddities
Hello,
I had to rebuild entirely my PC (win 7 64bit, French version)
Consequently I reinstalled products such as EQ2, ACT, ProfitUI, EQ2MAP and its updater.
My issue is that ACT does not read the log file, and it makes sense, produced by EQ2 because this file is generated in french.
- EQ2 is installed in the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\EverQuest II". It is not an international version then there is no sub-folder called LP*** with another occurrence of the application binaries.
- EQ2 version is "EU Français" (aka EU French)
- EQ2.INI file (there is only one occurrence on my PC ) has been properly modified and contains
cl_language English
cl_ui_skinname ProfitUI
cl_ui_subdir UI/
- EQ2 log file is on and active
- ACT correctly targets and opens this file
- EQ2.INI has been excluded from ProditUI updater files list
- PC is 100% up-to-date (.NET framework, etc).
I raise a call to your memories and ideas to help me fix this odd problem.
I just tried many parameters combination without success.
Thanks in advance for your help :-)

I omitted to mention that ACT_English_Parser plugin is loaded and on

Re: ACT & EQ2 oddities
Regardless of the language, the timestamp in EQ2 remains the same... so ACT should at least be able to read the file if not get any combat out of it.
You're not very clear on what not reading means. Does the file position not change in ACT? Is the log file actually still in French?

Re: ACT & EQ2 oddities
ACT reads the file and position increases as long as the file gets more and more populated.
By "not reading I mean" that ACT does not display fight infos in the parser.
Log file still in french even though EQ2.ini contains cl_language English entry.

Re: ACT & EQ2 oddities
I don't have much experience with getting the game to log in different languages except that the EN_US client will write in English regardless of the setting except for random punctuation in combat lines. I would try the actual Sony forums for technical support on the "proper" way of changing the logging language. It may have changed or require a specific client type.

Encoding problem? Would be my first guess.

Re: ACT & EQ2 oddities
All EQ2 logs are UTF-8 encoded.
The problem is that the log files are in French when they should be in English. French log files have fatal flaws in their combat formatting which make them unsuitable for parsing. (IE missing data) That's why there is no EQ2 French parsing plugin and why the OP is trying to get their client to output English logs.

Russian parses seem to work ok

Re: ACT & EQ2 oddities
Russian isn't French. There's nothing wrong with Russian logging.
