That or you should have filed suit with them for negligence.

Then again, they don't exactly advertise that they have to do anything and will sluff people off that are not insured if they don't arrive by ambulance.

Hint: If you want to be seen right away for a real injury or sickness(none of this bullshit stomach ache/constipation/stubbed toe hypocondriac shit) call an ambulance, even if you meet them halfway to the hospital.

It gets you seen quicker and more efficiently in any country.

I agree some sort of suit should have been filed - I don't know why one wasn't, really - but I was 17 at the time. I was super shy and upset at the idea of sueing anyone, too, so they may have humored me. ?

But ..yeah...accident was at 1, they left me parked on a cot till 5 am - finally called my parents, then it took another 2 hours to get them to do xrays and get some pain meds while waiting for the life flight guys.

My dad is the one that got all the glass out of my hair and cleaned my face up (read: Bride of the Pumpkin Headed Horseman)- he's also the one that got up their asses to get the xrays, painkillers, set my one hand, etc. They weren't going to do anything & wrote it off as well, her insurance will fix her up, we have bigger priorities. So one kid who was in the accident was stitched up and released by 3 am while I was still sitting there. It is just as surreal and fucked up as it sounds.

THAT said though, I've seen places both American AND Canadian Health Care have completely kicked ass - I think it depends a lot, with American, what company you're with...and in Canada where you are.


Anyway... I'm Canadian, I live in Colorado, I honestly love both places and they are both "home" and can see the downsides to both, so meh. ;P No place is perfect, both countries are exceptional in many ways. I think the only other I'd pick to live in would be Australia, spiders, snakes, 1001 ways to die and all. Hm. /rethink

Yup, same here. I got one of those goofy websurveys from a friend and it asked where my hometown was... I've had a pretty equal split between Toronto, Cleveland and Denver, so they're all "home."

Most good jobs here have good medical insurance, I lived in BC for 20 years and Los Angeles since 1990. I have had the opportunity to to deal with both medical systems (I am always breaking something) and I found good points and bad about both. But for myself I would rather live here in Cali as long as I can get someone to smuggle me Sleemans
