Regardless of the differing stances on the plat buying issue, I'd be leery of a guild leader who flat out announced he was buying plat. That doesn't strike me as a great show of intelligence, much less tact. I'd have little faith in his long-term leadership skills all together at that point.
OTOH, if you see someone as an officer/co-leader that is better suited, it may just be a matter of waiting out the blatherer - if he doesn't tank the guild's reputation first. Whether or not people here are blasé to the issue, there are likely a pile of people in game who are pretty adverse to it.
If you just want a tide me over guild or you're not the type to get that attached, that may not matter. But if you're looking for something that'll be around for a year or two at least, I think you're best off elsewhere... that or stirring the pot so he throws in the towel and storms off. lol
