well guys .. here is my public apology for ruining EQ2
I have been suggesting things .... ways for SOE to improve their relationship between EQ2 and LoN. I have made many suggestions to SOE over the years via the forums, sometimes they actually try to implement things I suggest, they NEVER get it right. Even though they are screwing these suggestions up, I still want to take the blame.
Awhile back I told them about the strained relationship between LoN players and EQ2 players and how a fair portion of the player base really hates LoN and everything that it stands for. I also explained how a fiar portion of the EQ2 playerbase doesn't understand LoN and if they just had a bit more of an incentive to try it, the game might grow.
I told them they needed to do a better job of tying the two games together and offer some better incentives/carrots for people who were playing one or the other to play both. I made a suggestion of using loot to lure in the MMO players. Little did I know about thier plan to make these loot cards locked to your collection. See SOE is so fucking greed RAGED .. they could not find it within themsleves to do anything that might prevent us from spending money. From an idea of generosity ... greed springs forth.
They begin to work on it ... they start adding Loot cards to the scenarios in LoN to try to entice people playing the MMO's to come play the scenarios .. for the loot. The LoN only players were a bit confused as to what to do with locked loot cards in their collection, they complained, SOE ignored it of course. I think this did in fact get some more people from the MMO's into LoN but it was at the cost of pissing some of the LoN faithfuls off.
Now the flip side .... lets implement something into the MMO's that will garner more interest in LoN .. An encounter in EQ2 that involves a special zone or playing a LoN game with an NPC AI. The concept follows a similar concept of what diplomacy was going to be in vanguard. One where the card game was part of defeating the encounter, fun right? My idea did not involve the use of a Loot card to access anything. They used the concept, tweaked it for upmost greed potential and went forward.
So here we are ... I am sorry.
