5 minute cooldown makes it pretty worthless. It could probably have a 30 second cooldown and still not be OP for warfronts. There are control effects flying constantly, even in the 30's bracket.

You can reset the cooldown by switching Roles.

Yeah the fixed it with one of the post release patches iirc
The same time they adjusted it so friendlies wouldn't keep your buffs even if you changed specc.

    Just to post a thought:

    Soul Tree Calculator: Sentinel (40) / Warden (16) / Templar (10) :: Rift :: ZAM

That's what i'm going to aim for at 50. Not sure why everyone has Purifier as their main. I mean, sure, the wards are nice, and the 31 point final is AMAZING, but I don't think that and the buffs make up for the loss of heal power.

With this build you have all your bases covered.

-Instant cast AE heal. (Divine Call) Sure, it's on a 1 min timer, but damn, it's saved my ass so many times. Not to mention the range on it (23m with talents)
-Insta Cast ST heal. Healing breath. 8 Second CD, but with an AE component as well, so you don't really have to panic about wasting your GCD on a single person.
-Instant Cast HoT. Everyone uses this one. It's so mana efficient, why not? Tab-spam on everyone you can.
-AE Cure. 18m range, 1 of each, same cost as ST cure? You'll save yourself tons of mana countering tab-dot spammers.

And that's just the stuff you can spam while running in circles, mashing your space bar.

And then some. You've got like 3 more ST heals, of varying cast time and power, some more HoT's, a reactive heal to throw on whoever is getting pwnt because they're holding the shiny thing and a 40% damage reduction to cast on them too (Did I mention it reduces fang damage? Only tested once though.)

Plus you have your temp buffs. 1 makes your spells instant cast (Touch the Light), the other increases healing done by 50% for the next spell. (Healing Surge) And they stack and cast off the GCD. Someone dying? Pop em both, and your big heal, and watch them be at full health. The 30% cast speed boost at the end of Sentinel is meh, but it can be useful if you need to AE spam your team back to full because they stood in the AoEs.

Then you have the PVP remove CC, and the Warden remove snare/root. Those are pretty situational (Root/snare aren't the worst CC's out there, and the PVP one is a 5 min CD. bleh.) but lets say someone is chasing you down, they hit you, bam, reactive snare (Barb of Shackles), cast your de snare if you need it, hit them with crushing wave, and /lol at them as you run away. Not to mention the fact that you can pop Touch the Light as you run, and hit yourself with some major healing goodness.

And my favorite part: Serendipity. Every time you crit heal, your next heal has it's cast time reduced by 1.5. AFAIK, this is NOT cleared by instant cast heals, and while it may not seem like a lot, face it: Most of your healing will be done by instant casts and AEs. They're bound to crit eventually, and when you need to hit something big, you can rest assured that your proc is up on you, just waiting to be consumed, and your spell will only take .5 second. (All of your heals but your big ST heal have 2 seconds base cast time)

Then you have the stuff in the PVP tree, I took the path I did so I could hit the 10 point mark for the snare reactive. (Good buff, without sacrificing too many useful points). The first tier stuff is meh, magic resistance has it's place, and hopefully you're avoiding most melee, so thats all you should need to worry about. I absolutely love the second tier though. Free extra proc heals? Yessir! Seeing as your team will have a shit ton of cc being thrown at them, this should proc a lot.

I'll admit, it lacks in the survivability department, but really? If the enemy team is coordinated and wants you dead, you're gonna die, defensive bonuses or none. I'd rather go out with a bang and my team at full HP, than be the last man standing with my team dead around me.

Just a few questions I have though, about mechanics, if anyone can help:

Does Marked by Light (Procs AoE heal when target ally is healed, 5 charges) proc off Orbs of the Stream (Reactive heal buff placed on target, 3 charges) ... Or any HoTs?

Detaunt: Does it work like it seems it does? IE: Throw it on that annoying DPS who wont leave you alone, and he does half damage to you as long as you don't hit him?

Also, a final note, about mana: You do realize if you aren't being hit, and don't hit anyone for about 5 seconds, you can sit down and drink, right? Spam heals, back off, drink, spam heals. You're supposed to be in the back, anyway. Hopefully nobody is hitting you. Just don't DoT anyone.

I'm open to criticism though. I've only tested it up to level 30 PVP, so I haven't been able to spend all the points needed, but with what I have, I can keep 8-9 people alive fighting tooth and nail for Codex, with maybe 2-3 deaths for an entire match. I think I had 170k healing in one match at level 29 a bit ago. Taking in to account that players only have like 2k hp, thats a SHIT ton.

Maybe take the points out of the PVP tree? Do they do better elsewhere? I'm really loving the idea of that damage absorb proc, but it may be one of those "Not as good as it seems" things. There's not really anything good in the bottom 10 of any healing trees, I've got all the good shit in Sentinel, and 10 more in Warden will give me what, deluge? It's iffy. Although Overflow looks pretty nice. I'm all for free healing! I'm also half tempted to find 2 points in Sentinel, and take 2/2 Vested Interest, so that Shared Recovery becomes instant cast when Serendipity procs.

I've been running Sent/purifier/temp for warfronts. (occasionally cabalist/just/temp if we are healer heavy or i'm bored of healing).

I feel purifer > warden. the biggest advantage is the self ward. I dont know how many flags i've defended, assaulted or fangs I've been able to snag casting that ward... running to the flag and ninja'ing it while immune to all damage. Ward pots dont seem to work the same effectiveness (dont block all spells maybe?). The only thing I truly miss from the warden spec is the instant 0 point nuke.

As I get higher in level (49 atm) I'm becoming more and more a focus target. Purifier/Sent ftw for self survivability. And I do feel the 5 point detaunt templar ability is worth it. Pretty hard to kill me.

As for dps'ing... i've been using cabalist (49)/ justicar (11)/ templar (5). Certainly nice dps and ae heals... do very well on zw heals and dps. I think inquis/ sent/ temp or warden has better survivability and more pvp tools (snares, bedazzle, kb's) but I'm gonna keep cabalit till 50 to really test it out before I swap back.
