Default AA's while leveling, what Tree's first?

simple enough question...

I have an Illu main, wanted a better understanding of the differences (I've re-rolled between coercer and illu several times before i got my main to max level, so i know a little of coercer from pre-DoF times).

Just wondering if AGI, then INT, then... something from the coercer tree was the best choice. in comparison i can't say i'm excited in any way by the AAs available in the coercer tree.

I think you're about right, as the coercer aa's aren't mind blowing. Personally I'd go int, agi, mana and then whatever other line you wanted. If you were soloing your coercer alot, charm would be a good temporary choice.

The mana line is marginally useful for grouping and for helping power when you have your int line, and spell scourge in the coercive line is the best dps increaser, but mostly only has a raid benefit since most mobs die before the reactives trigger.

I disagree with any chanter taking WIS, well geared or not, at any point of their leveling. I would call WIS the most useless line for coercers. Yes, skills can help if you have lousy spell quality, but its not worth the AA to even get there. If you fight blue or lower mobs, you'll rarely get resists in the first place; and if you fight higher mobs, you'll still get resists even with a lot of +skills.

The other skills in the line are even less useful. Hypnosis just duplicated our main charm spell but to a much lesser duration, and magical damage resists have very little if any effect.

AGI first so that you get used to the speed.

INT second so you get used to balancing your power - this is not easy while leveling, so you'll do a lot less with it than if you were raiding; during those long solo fights though where things are touch-and-go, you'll appreciate the extra dps that you'll get with it.

Coercive healing - makes healing much more efficient and your groups will go more smoothly, whether they realize why or not.

Manaward isn't so important leveling up, you'll rarely use it, but during raiding (depending on what you're raiding) it has it's moments where it is very useful. So your 4th could be something else while leveling. There's nothing that pops out at me and says "me!"

Honestly, for leveling...

5 in the Charm AA, the 15% helps loads.
3 in Tyrannical Mind or whatever it happens to be called
2 (6 points) in Haruspex/Magus/Auspex/whatever

So that's 14 points in the Coercer tree that I'd say are basically must haves.

If you absolutely do not ever want to respec, then yeah, I guess agi/int is the way to go.

Personally though, Wisdom is incredible. No, it's not the most dps, and maybe gear can make it obsolete. But for leveling, you really have to ask yourself - how are you killing stuff, and what can go wrong?

The answer is...you're using a pet, mezzing adds, and using your reactives. It only gets ugly when stuff resists your spells.

Bam. That's it right there. Aside from giving you a nice hefty chunk o' resistance (which really IS nice), maxing out +focus and +subjugation almost guarantees that your mezzes, roots, and charms are practically never resisted and basically never ever break early.

The only time I've had charm break early after going wisdom (I respecced and did 4/4/8/8/0) was when grouped with an illusionist who had their +mental resist buff up. (Yes I'm aware this isn't supposed to happen, yadda yadda, it's true. Seriously.)

Point is, soloing with a coercer is about control and patience. Why not take the AA line built for it.

On a side note, mez never being resisted means I can very reliably solo ^^^ yellows. :P

-Agi/Wis and loving it, though I'll probably try Str/Wis after this patch.
