Default Master versions of charm

New coercer here.. i'm level 32 and plan on hitting 33 tonight. At 33 I get a new charm, beguile I think it's called. I have a master version of the level 20 coerce. Someone told me that I really don't need to spend the coin on a master version of the new one as it will only increase the duration of the charm and not the effectiveness of it?

Is this true?

Thanks

Master charm isn't something I penny-pinch on.

Pretty much the main difference is resists, which means that having the lower level master charm will cause you to have more direct resists when trying to charm a pet, and having it break earlier or unexpectedly.

As far as the strength of the pet, yes all master pets (regardless of which tier spell) will have the same strength pet. So it is just resists, or the chances of how long you can keep the pet charmed, that's different.

Ahhh.. ok. then I would probably want to upgrade so I don't get squished. I was hoping I could hang onto some of my hard earned coin and not have to pay the high price tag that i'm sure will be stuck to that master.

Thanks a ton guys. . great info. very helpful..

You can use Coercer Master 1 even at level 70. Your pets hit for the same amount, they are just charmed for a lesser duration. I personally used Coerce until I bought the level 47 master for 90g. I then used the level 47 master for almost a year, even at 70, until one day I got bored and decided to buy my last master--Domination.

I never had problems with resists outside of the rare resist while using the level 20 charm.

Just betrayed back to coercer (lost my master domination earlier in the summer when I thought playing an illusionist would be fun...) and I couldn't handle charming anything with an adept 3 domination, even the corpse flames had laughable dps. So here I am, level 70 and using a master beguile when soloing/charming for dps and saving the domination for control fights.

Even with the 33 master, the dps is noticeably master quality, but I lose pets much, much more frequently.
