Default PvP tips requested

Building up my coercer and looking to the experts for some tips tbh..
  • I am currently level 79 (almost 80)
  • Have 3 of the dispersion items equiped (working on 4th) and the magi shielding secondary item. I alsohave barbedguard adorns for what they are worth.
  • Hp is around 5,700? is this too low?
  • My spells are adp3 or M1 (~5)
  • Some fabled raid loot, rest is legendary and 1-2 pieces of MC
  • I have ~100aa (building fast) and have AGI WIS maxed, Thought Snap, Reactives and most of MANA done.
  • I have potions and macros setup for targetting.
One of my main problems is the initial "mez". I notice it gets resisted a lot. This is not a big problem against a healer or even another mage but against scouts it is litterally game over. (I never face fighters except brawlers tbh). Againsta brawler with closed mind I litterally stand very little chance to do anything.. and I get stomped on all but greens..
  • I have WIS subjuration and focus AA maxed to help my spells land and several pieces of gear which further boost it.
Is it just me or is everyone having the same problems?

My second main problem is auto-attack damage and general high damage from single CA's/Spells which do not proc enough damage to kill my opponent. This may be linked to the innate weak coercer defence or my low HP. I am un-sure how to further boost my HP more than a few hundred HP which will imo add little effect to my survivability.

You guessed it right, we are looking at the rogues/predators here again (less so ranger because I get close to them IF mez sticks an dteh rest of the fight isn't so bad). They only have to hit me ~5-8 times to kill me.. and typically have around 9k hp.

We now look at pets! they must be my saviour?

With the further recent nerf, I am afraid not. As with summoner pets, a tank pet will not taunt (which is easily countered anyway). Will thought snap work with a fighter based pet?

Mez chain:
  • Mez
  • debuff
  • reactives
  • etc
  • root
  • sonic boom
  • blink
  • amnesia (to force them break target)
At this point they will either: -
  1. Attack me and die if they have poor gear and use low CA's
  2. Run away and due to my lack of dps they can do this generally..
  3. Evac.. if scout etc..
  4. Kill me in ~3 seconds with the ~2-5 Ca's
What I plan to do to improve my surivability: -
  • Get the 4th dispersion item
  • Continue to upgrade my spells to help reduce my resists
Am I doing something really wrong? What can i do to improve? Or is it just the coercer's lack of soloability? Am I destined to grp for ever after?

Modified spells I think would help include:
  • Unresisatble mez (I know illy get a fast cast mez)
  • Some spells to be able to cast on the run?
  • Some extended spell casting range items which help with the initial mez and our overall defence
Thanks for any input..

I dont wear the ear dispersion piece anymore.

I sit at around 7khp unbuffed. (8k buffed with a pot)

http://eq2players.station.sony.com/c...erId=337718120

I have my epic now, which bumps my HP a bit.

More health will help, if the 1-2k auto attacks are hurting you, make use of your daze.

Mez resists, you still have amnesia and your fear giving you some time to recover.

Amnesia is unbelievably useful in these fights because of the 5 seconds where they can't target you. I beat up Dryken even when he mischief maker'd me (immune to everything) because of Amnesia.

Practice makes perfect.

I used to save blink, fear and amnesia for panic situations, but now I mostly drop amnesia right away. The extra range over mezz gives a little edge also, but again, if it looks like a scrub, and I'm the one dropping him/her, I mezz right away.

Never try to get "everything" on a mezzed target. Just the important ones (miti debuff cmind, either spell scourge/hostage or both depending on target and then root).
You want to control everything in the fight, most importantly, when the mezz breaks.
I usually break with sonic boom, to get as much damage in as fast as possible, and give me time to hit 1 hemo and the 2 dots, and if all goes well, just continue cycling damage spells
If the target knows his shit, or doesn't take much damage from the first 4 damage spells, I usually cast blink or fear there, to grab that extra edge also.

That's usually it. Targets are usually close to, or below 70% hp's, and reactives, along with me nuking, cyckling hemo, dots and whatever is up for damage takes care of it.

I'm still only using the daze and stiffle situationally. It usually shows pretty fast after I break mezz. If they start ripping me without dying, and root is broken, fear, stiffle/daze (caster/melee), if root still sticks, blink instead of fear.

I'm wearing 3 dispersion items (missing the shoulder still), and the unglued healing neck (allways have to use it, when I'm fighting duos, or a 1 on 1 gone bad. If I'm allowed, that is).
AA's (would have mostly the same for PvE, just rearranged for more dps)
AGI: 4-6-8-4-2 (max defense skill, then chronosiphoning for increasing timers on target)
STA: 4-4-4-8 (subjugation, subjugation, subjugation)
INT: 4-4-8-6-2 (Interrupt barrier ftw)
Thoughtsnap, tashiana and coercive healing.

Check me online :P or eq2players for gear. Atm shows me dps gear, but ony changing out for the 3 dispersion items and necklace.

As for pets, I allways hated pets, and never use them, unless I'm out harvesting questmobs. But I'd never go for anything else, but a caster mob.

Ps. I used to go for full resist and hp gear, to increase survivability, but I just crippled my damage on spells way too much, I couldn't kill shit.

Pps. You will occasionally still get 5 resists in a row. Shit still happens.
You'll have a good run, killing uber-titled scout after uber-titles scout, and then some random noname hunter comes by and stomps you completely. It's random business, this coercer deal

Edit: In the end, all it comes down to, is know who you're fighting, have control all the time, and only cast what you really really need or want to cast.

Careful with proc gear as well.

I no longer wear any pieces of damage proc gear, because it really sucks to have your mez break on a swashbuckler while you're debuffing him because of some random 3% chance to proc damage on one of your items.

True, procs are evil for pvp. I'm still using soulfire and necro orb though, untill I find some valid replacement(CWoP or epic for one), but with almost no playtime, I prefer to just run around and pvp
Running on chances :P

Only thing I can really add to this is that I try to get cannablise thoughts on. 163 Int debuff is nothing to shake a stick at!
