Our weapon alone gives us more reuse and the crit is the same, and it's not like they're already putting tandem on themselves? How does the weapon improve their dps in comparison to our weapon that significantly that it changes current status?
I'm personally glad because more people will get tandem. If they're in a mage dps group, they were probably only using one or two hastes anyway. And if they're in the melee dps group, I won't feel guilty bout asking for tandem.
The pet dies pretty quick to an ae. Even though it's more durable than a dumbfire, on a raid it's essentially going to act like that.

No, we got shafted. They get:
1) A dps boost. The pet by itself is more dps. Period.
With a wizard and troub in the group, I think it was once said they put out 400 dps or so, at least. (So, by your logic, this is nothing to "shake a stick" at since you made that same argument for the coercer's fighter taunt-buff.) Even if the illusionist were taken out of the mage group, they'd still be benefiting from POTM (thanks to troub mythical).
As for the pet dying, why is the pet dying? It's a caster, it's ranged. Nevermind that the illusionist should be sending it so it's not getting riposted (if for whatever reason you're letting it melee) or hit by frontal arcs. Oh, and the illusionist would have to do what coercers have been doing all along: time aes. It's not like hitting "Bitch Be Cool" on a pet is terribly time-consuming or complicated. Any way you look at it, it's free dps and will amount to far more than we could ever hope from the likes of Puppetmaster.
2) A beefed up melee buff. While it may be "useless" in a strictly mage group, what this does is make the illusionist even more desirable in ANY fucking group because they just got even MORE utility that people actually fucking want. (Alternately, it makes "mixed groups" more viable.)
3) A power proc that frees them from whatever power-proc'ing gear they may be wearing, like that goddamn Crystal Gift everyone is scared to replace.
4) More concentration to hand out tandem. Again, more utility -- and again, utility people actually fucking want.
Christ, most everyone agrees there has to be a balance between utility and DPS, and with this weapon, the illusionist just got boosts for both.
If our mana flow upgrade were working in a way conducive to maintaining VM, it'd be much better but even then, it's not the sort of proc that makes the coercer any more valuable to the raid. All it really means is that everyone can slack off on gathering clickies.
The thing about epics is you can't have some 18 really AWESOME, class-defining, enviable weapons...and then have 6 that are "eh" at best. I mean, it's disgusting that the illusionist weapon prompts me to get MORE requests to betray.
And like a fucking battered wife, I keep wondering if I stick it out just a bit longer they'll come through and fix our goddamn class and/or adjust this goddamn weapon to be on par with the others.
I really do love this class...But it's like the love you have for your mother: you can't bear the thought of replacing her, and yet there are times where you just want to punch the fucking bitch in the gut.
