Asylum Help
I am normally a pally but made a coercer to help when mt coercer is not around or not enough regen in raid.
Compared parses for Asylum in Paw Buster zone and noticed that the other coercer and I had similar totals on Asylum but a world of difference on Forceful Headache that procs off Aslyum. How can that be?
Asylum totals:
me: 174162 total damage, 258/259 landed
other coercer: 167156 total damage, 275/276 landed
Headache totals:
me: 14935 total damage, 16/16
other coercer: 4032 total damage 4/4
I understand headache only goes off 50% power or greater, but these are raid mobs. I will pay more attention to pwr levels, but I can't believe most of these hits came after 50% mana on a raid mob. Only thing I can think of is re-casting the spell before it terminates.

Why dont you just ask the other coercer?
My guess is that he doesnt bother letting it run. Instead he huses the face that all +spell damage hits on first tick. In other word he uses it as a DD

Zaleo hit it bang on. With enough plus spell damage you can use the first tick of Asylum as a DD. I never let it or Brainshock run the duration, I use them as nukes, quite effectively too.

What's funny is even though he was trying to get more damage out of asylum, perhaps because of his group buffs or armor setup, you still beat him in damage amount per spell cast.
Technically though, with at least 700 spell damage, you're increasing damage output by overwriting asylum versus letting it drop.

if you have to fight more then 1 mob it's prolly worth to cast asylum on every mob there with the other stuff.
Only coz aslyum does a bigger domg on terminate like catalysitc mind it means you maybe loose a porc chance.
Depents how busy you are or not, but if you have a other spell you can cast you should cast the other spell before you cast asylum and catalysticmind again before it expires. since you only cast it for the porc chance it's maybe worth to cast a cc spell.

Also worth noting is that the Forceful Headache component to Asylum is handled slightly differently in regards to spell dam modifier.
Instead of receiving the full 50% of max damage (div/1) or one third of 50% the way encounter or reactives do (div/3), Forceful Headache is (div/2) the same way many SK spells are.
Pulling base numbers out of my ass since I'm at work, but for example if your base damage read is:
Inflicts 200-250 mental on target instantly and every 6 secs
Applies Forceful Headache for 500-750 on termination.
And you have 600 spell dam mod, then it'll display
Initial 700 - 850 instant
Ticks 200 - 250
Forceful 625 - 938

He may be INT specced in which case he isn't above 50% power (or shouldn't be) ever, making it more viable to recast every time it's up.
I know that's what I do.

I may be misunderstanding you, but just to clarify a point to avoid further confusion: it is the mob that needs to be above 50% in order for Forceful Headache to apply, not the caster.

it's a terminate tick/hit. if the mob is at the end of the duration above 50% power it will tick/hit like catalystic mind.

Well hot damn. I misunderstood the spell. I don't really feel bad about it though because even if you weren't gaining damage from it by recasting it every time it's up, you really need to chain it in for perp to be 100% effective.
