LU43 Thought Snap Nerfed
Epic mobs reset when forced on a corpse... why??? Not like the 7s make a huge difference. SEVEN SECONDS !! Not 1 minute 30 or anything.
Just a huge warning for every raiding coercer.
AND THANKS SOE for yet another nerf.

It's been doing this since I picked up the ability in EoF.
There's actually 3 ways to reset an encounter using thought snap. It doesn't work 100% reliably, but, then again, neither does amnesia really.
1. Thoughtsnap to a dead tank.
2. Thoughtsnap followed by Smoke Bomb
3. Thoughtsnap followed (or possibly preceded) by amnesia. This last works like amnesia but often without the coercer death.
4. Thoughtsnap followed by the tank's group evaccing. Haven't truely confirmed this one, we've only done it unintentionally so far.
I personally consider this a feature rather than a bug. Though I had meant to PM a dev sometime asking if intentionally resetting a mob in this fashion amounts to an exploit.
I mean even if it isn't intended, we don't really *gain* anything by doing it. All we do is get the ability to pick up a tiny bit faster after a wipe, and pay a little less in repairs.
I think it's a nice side-benefit of playing a broken and neglected class. Hooray for mob resets that don't involve me checking out the cushioning in the dungeon floor every time.
EDIT: Another nice thing about playing a broken and neglected class is that I can post stuff like this secure in the knowledge that it won't get changed or fixed if it is a bug.

Yeah, ive been using Thought Snap as a wipe prevention for a while now. Beats Amnesia since I dont have to die.
The only problem with it is that after the MT dies, the mob usually comes straight for me, so I have to decide pretty quick whether to use it or not

Yeah, this isn't new, this was my way of saving my own ass on Nexona for the last few weeks, or conversely getting screamed at by my RL when I was in the OT group and he went down with it on during doomcoil.... what a pansy.

Um, NO.... thanks SOE for fixing something that was not intended and kind of considered an exploit. That's really what you should be saying.
No, I'm not thanking SOE for the fix or happy about it either, but let's face the truth, that's what this is, a fix, NOT a nerf. If you read the spell description, then you understand what they intended the spell to do and why they are fixing it.
It will be a cold day in hell when you hear a dev say, "Hey, lets make a spell that locks the mob on the group's fighter, and if he's dead then it will work on his corpse too! Yeah, that would be cool!"

No way is this intended. It's a pain in the freaking ass. In Kor-Sha last night on Twins had this happen a couple times. Once by me and once by a Dirge. Snapped the mob to tank and he died before the mob got there. Poof, it reset.
I am cool with it not working on a dead tank. Fine. I am not cool with the reset. With the way some mobs hit in some raids it's not possible for me to know anyone will be alive before I get snap off. I am not trying to exploit. I just want an ability I have spent AA's to get, to work at least reasonably well. Now I have to debate if I should snap at all because I could trash a Pita fight. If this happened on Paw with him at 10% I would be getting groin stompped by my raid leader.
Annoying. Can they kindly pick someone else to screw with?

This was always the case with that encounter. I've had the same result on Kodux/Zarda every time I've thoughtsnapped to a corpse. This isn't new with 43

Ok, I realized I didn't really explain myself to well in my previous post. What I meant by the devs not intending to have it lock on a fighter corpse when they are dead was simply that. Should it reset the encounter? No, nothing you cast should do that in my opinion. All I meant was that I think they intended for the mob to attack the next person on the aggro list if the tank was dead already when TS was cast (basically meaning the spell cannot work in that situation).
Now whether or not this was a side effect from an attempted fix with the last update, or if this was just a bug from this particular mob, I have no idea.

I have had a few cases where it didnt reset the mob when I used thought snap in a raiding situation. However at the same time I tend to try and save Though Snap for when the tank gets up and is ready to stabalize it so we can kill the mob and proceed with the rest of the raid zone. Never really had to use it as a way of resetting the mob /shrug
