Re: FACQ: Improving DPS - Spell Priority and Casting Order
Don't shoot me my coercer is the first alt I ever got to level 80 and I'm learning the class, sorry if this is noobish, but hey, lets face it, I am a noob coercer.
when running spell rotation and you hit the part where you are gonna hemhorage then brainshock, why not throw arcane augur in before them? On my fury, i always threw the ho before my dots cause it was free extra damage and very fast cast. Are HOs less useful for mage dps than priest dps?
And Revel, big thanks for the coercer primer. you've saved me a few hundred hours of gameplay trying to gain a better understanding of the coercer class.

Re: FACQ: Improving DPS - Spell Priority and Casting Order
I've macro'ed the HO starter to Hemorrhage. Its insta-cast so the macro usually works fine (unless you are queuing up Hemorrhage in which it doesn't work as well). Any free dps is worth it imo.

Re: FACQ: Improving DPS - Spell Priority and Casting Order
While I used to macro it, I found that it'd occasionally distract me from my spell order. Even though I know it's only a small amount of damage, I tend to try to hit the flashing button to complete it - sometimes hitting a low damage spell to do so. Further, if you have queue up as Doctornick said, it doesn't go - and I try to keep a constant queue of spells anyway, because casting something is always better than casting nothing. Thus for me, completing the HO was a net loss or at best, evening out. If you can avoid the mental mistakes that I make, and instead keep your normal rotation, then definitely go for it.
Also, I edited this to edit the dot information. I meant to update it earlier, but all I wanted to say was that it's better to reapply dots than to wait for them to expire, even on Asylum. The reasoning is explained briefly in the main thread.

Have they fixed the Brainshock/Tyrannous Mind issue?

Re: FACQ: Improving DPS - Spell Priority and Casting Order
Updated a tiny bit.
Altered the spell orders to front-load the damage a bit more. Basically keeping Hostage/Spell Curse and Mind close together will help people's timing if they cast these together. On the other hand, moving Hemorrhage initial cast back a bit to get higher damage spells in first, since dot recasting does not matter whether you get Hemo in earlier or not, which was the only reason to have Hemo cycle earlier.

Re: FACQ: Improving DPS - Spell Priority and Casting Order
Lol, if someone starts beating me consistently while keeping Sta line I'll start figuring out more stuff! Nah, I've always had an open door policy. There's still much more optimization that could be done off this spell order, to be honest. Think there's already quite a lot of people who can probably beat me already! But still quite a few people who need help since I get questions daily, still.

Re: FACQ: Improving DPS - Spell Priority and Casting Order
For a AE Fight i like to do ..
1) Spell curse
2) Gaze
3) Ego Melt
4) Sonic
5) AE Stun
6) Hostage
Gaze and Ego Melt don't do a lot dmg compared to other spells, but i use em to proc Spell curse.
Sonic good dps for close range AE fight.
And AE stun before hostage because i have Hood of darkdealings and Wicked Wand of Malice, both are 100% proc's.
So if i would cast hostage i would proc spell curse only on 1 mob instead of the whole encounter.
Well i have to take into that, that this is more for grouping with scouts and no other mage in group.
For an AE fight in raids it would prolly look more like:
1) Hostage
2) Spell curse
3) Gaze
4) Ego Melt
5) Sonic
Considering i want to do a the max possible AE Dmg before the weakest mobs died.
