Default New parse thread (post gu45)

Group: Pally, Templar, Mystic, Dirge, Swashy, Me. I wore my vp robe, which accounts for the large Convulsions amount. I had my choker on sometimes, but not full time. No potions, crit scrolls, or spell damage drink because I wanted to get a clean parse where my crit/spell damage was constant.

Temple of Kor-sha, entire zone

Chamber of Destiny, trash

Revel.. what is your position in dps list on these parser? (if you raid in a 100k zw guild your dps will every time be higher than someone which raid in a 40k guild... that's why i ask, i'm interested where our place is now on the dps list)

Ah, yeah I forgot to include my personal percentages and such.

I was 10th place in both parses, 5% of the overall damage in both parses, just ahead of the mt dirge. I barely beat out the melee-group Illusionist, in the ballpark of the summoners, but was far behind the Mage-group Illusionists. Both raids had raid dps of about 90k.

Honestly, I felt I could do better if dps slowed down (on longer fights) because I rarely got to reapply reactives on a single encounter, and when I did they were down for the next fight. To put it into better perspective, the average fight time in Kor-sha was 36 seconds and that includes the named. The average fight time in CoD was 52 seconds, and thus I did a bit better.

As a side note, while raid dps affects your dps, it does so to the extent of timing and debuffs: whether you start to run of out damage spells to cast (thus losing dps) or whether you end as you hit all your highest damage spells (higher dps), and whether your spells land for more damage than compared to another raid where debuffs were lower. To more clarify the timing issue: if a fight ended right after Hostage/Spell Curse/Tyrannous Mind, I'd end up with about a 10k+ parse, sure. But if the fight ended after 18 seconds (high dps raid), I'd end up with a 5k parse. If that changed to a 24 second parse everytime, I'd actually end up with 6k parse. At 30 seconds, I'd be back down to 5k. If the rest of the raid did more or less, I'd still be about the same (not counting the debuff factor I already mentioned).

After messing around with my parser to get it to work on the test server, it seems to be broken.

Did a few instances yesterday, and I could see from the numbers going up above the mob and from the time it took to kill that my DPS was higher, but my parse was showing crazy shit, going from around 700 to 3k. I'm not sure what's gone wrong with it, might have to reinstall.

But Revel makes a very good point, if the fights ends just after you've applied reactives for a second time, your DPS is gonna be pretty huge, which was kinda why I wanted the recast times to be lowered (damage lowered accordingly). This would only be a issue on long fights, where casting times on the reactives could be used for other spells.

yeah but thats nothing new.... pre GU35 when fight ends just after our reactives procced (for example trash golem in vp) our dps was high... its the nature of parsing... so you can "fake" parses if you nuke the highest damagestyles at the end (assasine for example)...

Ps: Revel which "vp robe" do you mean?

Set robe, sorry. Robe of Spectral Coercion. It's technically a Trak robe, while Robe of Dark power is the vp robe, but I think of the set as the "VP set" which is probably confusing for people.

My point was that higher raid dps doesn't mean you'll automatically get higher dps, but only if for some reason one raid is debuffing better than the other, or the fight ends as a good time. It's definitely harder to keep dps up when a raid is poor thus making a fight longer, but you don't suddenly lose damage.

Troub, Wizard, Fury, Warlock. Veeshan's clearing up to (and not including) Nexona.

(24:57) 85801559 | 57315.67
Swashbuckler = 4716.35 ... 8%
Pett = 4509.84 ... 7%
Wizard = 4304.71 ... 7%
Swashbuckler = 3873.55 ... 6%
Illusionist in OT group = 3654.41 ... 6%

I was bumped down to #2 from playing with Possess Essence most of the time and dying 3 times from casting Hostage on the pull out of habit.

The "confound" damage is from Possess Essence, which made classes like coercer, troubador, and dirge.

damn - i wish i was in the mage group lol..

unfornuately for myself i wont be able to truly test the dps as my guild prefers me to spec fully down sta for a couple of reasons.

Currently, with no VM, choker (i have but in MT group with swash we burn the wards pretty quickly together heh) but tandem my dps has been around 3.2-3.5.

i am curious though.. obviously we had a pretty big revamp and im' sure people are still trying to work out the kinks as far as casting order. i know i have had some fights that were pushing 4k with no vm but then some around 2900 or even lower if a few spells resisted.

has anyone drastically changed( with the exception of pre-pull spells, of course) their casting order and care to comment on it?

Lol, I bribed my way into it. After more than a year straight in the MT group, we had the recruit coercer in the MT group.

For me, it's more like "casting patterns". The only habits I'm trying to break are casting Hostage on the pull (has gotten me one-shotted every time) and when a mob is just about dead, casting Hostage/Spell Curse instead of Hemorrhage.

My highest spike from that zonewide was ~7k
