Default Oh my crap...

This has to be the most entertaining thread I've seen on the official forums in a while...

I thought Enchanters were suppose to be the bottom of the barrel for DPS?

Yes, yes it is.

Basically people totally not understanding how to play their classes complaining because a few Illus / Coercers that know how to DPS are pwning them in the face.

huge difference between people with good gear and people without
huge difference between people with Masters and people without
huge difference between people who take the time to figure out casting orders and timings.

The people who do have the higher end of any of those three things complain .. A LOT.

I hope I don't complain to much.

I mean my gear is not top top end but it's pretty nice.

As for skill... I personally still think I need work. Got the 5k zone wide down, working on getting it above 5,500. But this was all pre-Myth change and not using PE. So... with PE I'm sure getting it above 5,500 will be a snap.

As for masters... Coercer have no excuses when it comes to those. We can solo some of the better selling drops in old world instances and some decent drops from current ones. If you want Masters, farm and get and/or buy them.

*trails off* What were we talking about again?

Personally, my belief is that there is a higher ratio of skilled players who play enchanters than those that play... say... Monks and Paladins.

I'm not saying that every Paladin or Monk sucks (heck I know our Monk is awesome on the parse), I'm just saying that when someone starts playing EQ2... the typical casual player might say:

"Hey, I want to be the Knight in shining armor!"
or
"Oh boy, I'm ninja girl/guy"

Then they progress through the game and freak out when some enchanter comes along that can do SO much... AND outparse them very easily. They don't care about gear or spell levels, it's just the "principle" that someone can do so well and still have plenty to offer to the group.

Now don't get me wrong, now that the changes to Coercers have hit, I'm seeing more people beginning to roll them. But give it time, because they saw a high-end coercer solo something, they'll /rage quit when they can't figure out how.

Anyway, those are my thoughts on the matter. :D

When one of my co-workers was talking me into playing I looked at the classes .. read up on the forums .. did research on population differences between classes. Coercer was the least played class .. soo .. naturally I had to play it. Now we are almost FotM

There's lots of reasons for chanters getting to almost be FotM IMO. Most average to slightly above average players can't complete Maiden's, RE2 and some even VoES without one, raid guilds usually needing one, the bump they recently got and when you watch the channels people are constantly begging for a chanter to do this zone and that so everyone and their brother is rolling one now to get in on the fun.

We shine with these groups. They are the ones who end up needing CC to save them .. Some tanks I know get sloppy only because they know that most of the time I will handle whatever adds they pulled provided they can stay alive for a few sec. I enjoy these groups more than the ones where everything goes right ;)

Yeah I have had an illy ask me if i was op or not. i was laughing because the other illy who was in the troub group, and had the hood of dark dealings was outparsing me by 2k at that time, and I was finally keeping up with the illy that asked me.

My only response, was whether i could be op if i was matching her for dps, or was I just supposed to never come close?
