I just haven't had a chance to seriously test pets to make any conclusion. Obviously bard pets are the best where available, but there are many times where they're not available. Most of the pet's damage is from melee, so possessing a class that is strong in that area makes sense. Further adding to my inability is that my guild has stopped raiding lower tier zones for the most part.

I think there was a post just a few posts down but it's really just too early to say "so and so is a great pet" with only one or two tries at a certain zone at best.

The maestro, K'Pul D'Vnger, is the best pet because it is the only bard mob. If you can't get him easily, most other pets are quite similar.

In VP, if you're in the main tank group, you will easily notice a bard mob by it casting an arcane group debuff on you. You can also look at its outgoing damage, but sometimes there's too much combat spam.

how can you get him "easily"? Too small range of the spell for him.. tried it twice now.. always add

I'll admit the ways aren't easy to get him if you want him early. I've heard of other people getting him without aggroing, but like you I've never done it.

Basically you have to pull him, for my guild I often clear the zone first to get early timers, I use a box to pull him and PE, then tinker evac and fd or just fd if I'm feeling lucky. I've only done this for trash clearing though, usually I don't have enough time to do this before the full raid comes in. You can get him on a normal pull otherwise, but of course this will be late in the zone.

When we've had a break in the middle of the raid I've invis'd over to him. Then you can stand next to the stairs wall, about halfway up to snag him. This is not easy.

I usually wait till we have cleared some of the trash near him, and then slip over to the wall to use him to clear the rest of the nearby trash.

That said, I think the assassin mobs are the second best in this zone. Look for a poison proc icon. SK's are almost as good though, and quite common.

If you inch your way up his stairs you can snag him too. Usually about the landing is where you get him, just keep slowly moving up and spamming PE til you get him.
