Default Re: PE pet buffs

The parry will only show up for classes that have the parry skill (which is different than the uncontested parry some mages get from AA). So charm the dirge and check with a fighter in your grp. Also, if you get a troub, which buffs +defense, it WILL show up in your own skills since everybody has a defense skill.

I'm not sure about the STR buff question as I have not ever even checked it. I have had no issues with the other stats from "dirge songs" and "troubador songs" however so it would be odd if just this one component didn't work. One thought is that it may be a stacking issue with other classes in the group (Did you have a dirge in the group?). Group stat buffs from the same archtype rarely stack so that may be why.

Dirges are nice, but Dest is right the troub pets absolutely own, for the whole group, especially since most coercers are already in groups with dirges So far the only for sure bard pet I know of in T8 raid instances is Maestro. In VP, all the non-golem trash is "possibly" a bard (as far as I can tell), either dirge or troub, so keep trying till you get one. The biggest dilemma I have is whether or not to have multiple mediocre parses until I find a bard, and then whether or not ditch a dirge pet in search of a troub if it's a dirge!! I wish more mobs would show their class buff before you actually PE them, instead of only showing you afterwards.

someone mentioned the droags in vp with the hookish weapons are troubs, i found this to be true.. also some of the droags in the room just before the 1st name in 3rd wing do show their buff - dirges... the troubs are AMAZING for parsing well but the dirges add a metric ton of avoidance to the group (as you can see from the buff) plus that melee proc isn't horrible - i can think of worse! the troub one does have a defense component as well, so its not a total waste for mt...

yah and my zw was terrible last night while i was trying to get a bard, i think ima stick with a normal w/e pet until i get to mobs i know are troubs from now on..

I just wait till I see a mob with "troubador buffs" listed on the incoming, then swap em out. I've never had a pet that didn't have that up on the pull turn out to be a bard, so I'm not sure if I could even identify if it would happen.

I spent a VP run last week swapping my pet out continuously on the trash to try to get a troubie and the effort really wasted compared to the nominal DPS increase of getting a troubie. I think the bard pets are worth having though, so I trained my parser to look for troub/dirge attacks and notify me.

So, the plan for next run is to snag whatever the first mob is, and then only switch when I see the mob use a bard nuke. I tested my "bard detector" during the second half of VP last time and it works pretty reliably.

The spells I use are the tier 2 nukes for each player class. Same names. Not sure I want to get more specific in a forum.

Are you guys talking about PE'ing a raid mob with a mythical weapon? Or are using the 3 concentration and buffing group members less?

I recently started using my coercer again due to guild needs and am trying to learn what's best to raid. So far, following advice in this forum, I have already raised my dps over 1500. I still have to get like 40 aa's.

Right now I am always in the MT group where I give the MT the DPS and Hate buff. Then I give the Temp CH (I know I should be giving it to the defiler but that's another story) and put hate reduction on the Temp. The if I have scouts, usually one dirge I give them DPS. Then I have the INT and MIT buffs up. Should I drop INT, MIT and the aggro reduction for PE?

Keep in mind my coercer is 80 but up til now it's not been a raid coercer. I have been working on getting the recast timers down but my gear is basic quest stuff and im short aa's.

Thanks in advance.

Buffing question: Revel covered that sort of thing pretty well in his FAQ.

My feeling is unless the fight has a huge magic mental or divine AoE don't bother with Corusucation, you'll get more DPS out of the pet than the INT buff. Pre mythical change I used to DPS buff the tank and dirge and then run the pet. Link is more or less wasted on a templar, it's best used if you have a tier 1 dps that manages to yoink aggro off the MT a lot. It's a raidwide buff. If the fight demanded more deaggro I'd drop the pet for 2-3 links, but otherwise, I'd run a pet.
