My wife is so jealous of my 80 coercer that she wants to stop playing her 80 warden and pick up a coercer. I have read posts on various ways to power level (turning in one collection at a time, quests, disco exp, heroic content and of course “Spiders”) so it will not take long to get her leveled up. But the real question is this. Should I jump for joy with having her want to join the Coercer Ranks or should I push to have her play an Illy with intentions of betraying later? Maybe I am being selfish but the thoughts of having IA on pet and TC on me make me drool.

As a little background, we mainly duo or group with guildies and never raid. The duo we have now works extremely well but I am open to other ideas or duo combos, as long as one of them is a Coercer/Illy. To be honest I would like to get 2 characters to level 50, lock exp, grind out some AAs before the new expansion comes out.

imho for the plev grind she's better off as an illy, betraying after 70ish. you will be doing 99% of the work during the plev grind and she will be more able to support you as an illy than a coercer.

i just finished the grind to 80 on a couple new alts and let me tell you, pleving as a coercer is so fn amazing. for the first 50 levels or so i didnt have to touch any spells on the mystic i plev'd, relying strictly on dispersion/displacement gear and heal procs off gear. power is never an issue with the coercer mythical (or if you dont have it dispersion and displacement are amazing sources of power too). at first i was rooting and quickly killing but i soon realized there was no point and just tanked everything...

dood what are you talkin about for lvl grind shes better off as Illy? that's backward ! she's better off grinding as a coercer

For a normal leveling grind, sure. But for being Powerleveled, Illusionists are better if they are the ones being powerleveled. Why? Because they offer better buffs.

while i do wish i had illuminate and flash of brilliance, and the third mez, and the mez while running thingy, and the mythical with the auto attack betterment, as a coercer i personally am in no way jealous of illies... since they changed us.. lol..

well, maybe just a little.. heh.. but we have much to be jealous of also...
